I am a Veteran in the military and I was told to C A Dealership in Orange Texas because I was told that they are military friendly and did credit recovery. The first time I went in I signed papers for a vehicle that I just loved all I needed to do was come back in and bring my down payment.
When I came in about a week and a half later with my down payment after hours of being there they told me that I would not be getting the vehicle I signed for the last time but a much smaller vehicle. I had just gotten a great job and I needed a vehicle to get back and forth from work. So after consideration with my family I agreed to purchase the vehicle.
The first thing that caught my attention as being a little unusual was that when the first guy sat with me and said you will be driving off the lot with a vehicle just not the one we agreed upon first, he also said when the loan company calls to talk with you about your experience don't tell them about you getting a better job than the one you have now and if they ask about the down payment just tell them it was all taken care of.
So when I finally sat down with the finance manager, he asked could I write a post dated check since their card machines were down. I said thats fine. I had never written a check before but I had some from my bank. So I asked him do I write the date that its supposed to be cashed and he immediately said NO. He said write todays date on there. I felt that something was funny but being military I belive everyone should display some sort of integrity. I asked him twice, so you won't cash the check until the 27th of the month because thats when the money will be in the account.
I got a email from my bank on the 26th saying that on the 25th someone had tried to cash a check. I immediately thought that it was identity theft. So I had the bank monitor the account. Turns out it was the dealership trying to cash the check 2 days before our agreed upon date.
The dealership did not contact me at all about the situation until they called to say that they needed a payment or they would repo the vehicle. So I went to the dealership where they were all cold and rude to me in every way. They would NOT take responsibility at all for trying to cash the check early. They said that I needed to bring something to the dealership the next day or they would put in for a repo order. I've been trying to contact them all day and they have been ignoring me.
I was told that first time buyers should never go into a dealership alone and expect them to be honest and have intergrity.
