I am extremely disappointed with Celibre because 1) my skin did not change after 5 treatments, 2) the consultant told me the results were permanent, unlike Accutane, 3) the nurse at the Torrance office was evasive when I started asking her questions and wouldn't speak to me. Told me to look at the papers she gave me.

Basically, it's a ripoff to end up paying thousands of dollars for treatments that don't work. They are so uncommitted to any liability it makes you wonder if their business actually works. The before and after photos on the website are not typical results. When I confronted the nurse about my results compared to those photos on the website she said off course results are different, those are dramatic results, as if saying typical results range from no difference to who knows what on average the results look like. They won't tell you honestly.

To have a fair and effective dialogue regarding a particular patient treatment program it is important to know who the patient is and in this case, we do not. We do understand that with thousands of patients, there will certainly be those who are disappointed with their results. Unfortunately, not everyone responds to the program as we would hope.

We have never told any of our patients that 5 treatments would help them with their acne unless the recommendation was for photodynamic therapy, and in that case, the number recommended is usually three. I can only surmise based on this that the patient underwent acne treatments with our Aramis laser program, which has effective outcomes for 70% - 80% of our patients. We let all of our patients know at the beginning of the program that 70% to 80% of patients get good results and this means that 20% to 30% do not. Because of this fact, we are distressed that this patient would indicate that our services are a ripoff. If the risk of undertaking the treatment program was too great for this patient given the potential outcomes, then they should have refrained from doing it because no acne treatment program is guaranteed. We categorically tell our patients that there is no cure for acne but lasers are an excellent option.

As to the permanence of the treatments: We can say that we have many patients that have undergone our treatment programs that have not not needed to return. But there are many others that do return for maintenance treatments. Patients are told during the consultation that there is no cure for acne but that the goal of the program is to permanently shrink the sebaceous (oil) gland. When less oil is produced, less acne is present. This does not mean that they will never have breakouts again. It means that the goal is to shrink the sebaceous gland permanently and this has been shown to happen in research done by the manufacturer for patients that have had biopsies done after their treatment program. As stated earlier, for 70% - 80% of our patients, the oil and acne reduction does happen and these %'s are clearly communicated to patients during their initial consultation.

We would like to reiterate that it is impossible to address this comment directly because we do not know who the patient is and therefore cannot address specific comments. We do understand that with thousands of patients, there will certainly be those who are disappointed with their results. We give our patients the information necessary to maked informed decisions, but unfortunately, not everyone responds to the program as we would hope.
