i was phoned on september 238, 2004 by a women, who said that I was approved for a Mastercard with a limit of $2000.00. She indicated that there was a onetime fee to process this transaction and that I would get my credit card in the mail in to three weeks. So, I gave her the information she request and told her to debit mmy account in one week. At the end of the conversation, she said that I will have two weeks free of long distance phone calls. She said in order to try it out please call this no 1800-634-2979 and they will activate the phone service. Well, after I hung up I felt as though something was not clear, so I tried to call them back that same night to cancel. but they did not answer the phone line. A recording came on and said "Thanks for calling customer service, we are closed and please call back Mon-Fri from 9:30am till 5:00pm ccentral standard time". I tried to call back everyday for one week, but the line was busy. Finally I did call my bank to cancel the debit transaction and they said okay, they would stop the $249.00 payment from coming out, but to my surprise it was still taken out along with $59.90 from the Pro Tel phone co. I was very upset. I called a family member and she told me this happened to her in Texas and that she never heard from this after they took her money. Why are these people allowed to do business like this and not be responsible for ripping off innocent people like us, somethiing has to be done for our rights as a consumer. I feel that the www does not police whos out there and allowing business to open without knowing what ther intentions are, I want justice, I'm truly ashamed of the system we have in place. I hope that some can find a resolution.
