i made a payment arrangement with Charter - paying 1/2 my bill due on 4/24 to keep my service active - i actually paid 4 days early on 4/20 - it is not 4/26 and they shut off my service - wants then second payment - which was agreed to be paid on 5/4 now - no money - no service - they hung up on me twice - how can they do this - i fufilled my part of the bargain - but they don't have to - never again - i am done with them - when i told them that they said the bill would go to collections and there would be a cancelation charge added to it - told them no way am i paying - you didn't live up to your part - why should i - charter is a rip off pure and simple - don't ever make an arrangement with them - they will stab you in the back

Is Your Arrangement in Writing?

Probably not. You were trying to dictate terms to your provider of services. The reality is that they dictate written terms and conditions to you, if you want their services. They do that for a reason. If you contract with them, you agreed to abide by their terms and conditions, and they have your signature as a part of that agreement. If you really and legitimately modified the payment arrangement, that arrangement must be in writing. With few exceptions, you can't orally modify a written agreement. Now, if they cancel you due to lack of payment, you're probably on the hook for any charges associated with the cancelling of services. I understand you're looking at a principle from your perspective. The truth is that you never had a modified arrangement for payment, if that modification isn't in writing. So there is no principle to claim... Now you're looking at the trashing of your credit score and your ability to secure credit. Now if you're willing to trash your credit for a principle, just be certain it's the right and legal principle. From your story so far...you don't have that.

How does that work again?

Charter supplies a service.........
YOU OWE them for that service........
............and yet you wanna dictate to them how and when you'll pay........
................................and when they stop service you scream rip off?
Nay Nay...that's not how it works. For them to discontinue service so quickly .....you were either way behind and owed more than that month......or you are perpetually late and have lied to them about payment in the not so distant past. Ive had Charter and Im no fan of theirs but for other reasons. Im not saying they're saints by any stretch but your story doesnt quite add up.
Sorry. Good luck in the future
