CHEAPOAIR.COM IS A SCAM !!!!!!! Beware and don't do business with this group. They do quotes in Canadian Dollars but they actually operate out of NY.
Here is my saga so you will not commit the same mistake that I did.
I was supposed to attend a conference in Mauritius starting Monday. A booking was made with this organization yesterday and everything seemed legit. They sent a booking confirmation right after the transaction was made ( after getting my credit card numbers and all) and on the confirmation it stated that the e-ticket will be emailed "shortly".
At 9 am today, I started to put all the paper works in place in preparation for an 8 pm flight out of Toronto. Lo and behold, e-ticket is not in my mailbox.
The problem starts...numerous phone calls were made starting 9 am, sometimes with a wait time of up to 30 minutes. I spoke to a total of 9 agents who did nothing but promise to get back to me in 15-30 mins with an e-ticket.
By 4:30, a supervisor, "Braiden Bradley", calls to tell me that the problem is Air Mauritius BUT they have a seat for the same flight with the same airline if I pay $400 more. Me, being desperate to get to the conference told this supervisor, let's split the cost and he tells me that he will get back to me. He did and he said no. Exasperated me tells him to cancel the whole thing (airlines and hotel) and he said okay and he will email me the cancellation confirmation. That email never came.
Checked my TD Visa and the charge has been made and was advised to call Cheapoair with a confirmation number for them to remove the charge. I call CheapOAir.com again and they are firm that no charges have been made.
Today, they sent me an email saying that I will be refunded the amount after 1-2 billing cycles.
This email was sent after I phoned them yesterday. It was an ugly phone conversation to say the least.
The saga continues.
How can deceitful companies like this are still in business?
I realized how this MO is a regular practice for them as nobody from their office apologized to me for putting me through the wringer. No sense of remorse at all.
