Show customers why they should trust your business over your competitors...

If you think buying from these creeps is bad, you ought to try working for them. Of course, you can hardly do that in Colorado anymore because the parent company Cendant opened call centers in Mexico and the Phillipines (without letting Labor Dept know... so that people laid off CANNOT get retraining related to current trend of outsourcing American jobs to foreign nations). I saw their most experienced, most highly paid people lie straight through their teeth to customers. I saw them violate so-called company-policy left and right and I heard on the phone the results of these nasty practices... people out money, people not at the proper destinations, and so on.

Let alone the damage that occurs to individuals and to society when trust is broken like this because corporate leadership doesn't give a s**t. Everything you say about how they do business is true. I couldn't believe some of the junk I saw there. It was the msot miserable job I have ever had in my life. I would highly recommend you boycott ALL Cendant brands. They include: Avis, Budget, TraveLodge, Jackson Hewitt, Fairfield Inns, and many more. Don't buy ANYTHING from any of their brands. And keep speaking up!

Sounds like Cendant

AUTHOR: Consumerrightsguy - (U.S.A.)

Cendant does own Coldwell-Banker, ERA and Century 21 real estate firms. Also Avis and Hertz (if I remember correctly).

They also operate "Traveler's Advantage" which you should NEVER sign up for - a pop-up window typically appears after making hotel reservations (Days Inn, in my case). They promise you a $30 check if you sign up for them, but then have all sorts of complicated things to collect and fill out and time restrictions. Then they will send you "checks" for $10 or so in the mail, but in fine print, it states that by cashing this check you agree to sign up for a $159.99 membership.

I visited Cendant's headquarters in New Jersey for a few days while working as a contractor for one of the real estate brands in California.

Cendant's MO is to gather as much consumer info as possible and sell it, send it to their other units, etc. They are a menace.

Not all the companies listed are cendant

AUTHOR: Carrie - (U.S.A.)

Just a note to let people know that Fairfield Inns is a Marriot product not a Cendant. Also Travelodge properties now belong to Wyndham group not to Cendant. I do not know who owns the rental car companies.

Not Quite True Wendy

AUTHOR: Mr - (U.S.A.)

Not fully true all car rental divisions over book by a certain percentage. In this way they hope to break even with the people who book and do not show. Also if you listen carefully to the verbiage they only guarentee you the price. Also the pick up counters are under a minimum sales requirement in additional insurances. Close friends working for Hertz and National say they follow same rules. Individual agents will go beyond company policy and even state a guarantee of a specific model knowling full well the tracking system does not track my make and models.

As for call centers a failed attempt was made in India. Was cancelled because they did not have the general knowledge of the US to cope with the job. Still they have opened up Cendent Canada and thier call centers are growing very fast. Good move as they make less per hour than we do in the US and our dollar has been worth much more than thiers for a good 30 years. Besides being an American citizen does not mean they speak good english. Heck as americans we cant even remeber the word is ASK not Axe for crying out loud.

Follow that up with the hand in hand relationship with the TGL group of companies that have a very bad rep, specially upon these boards, will never make the Cendent family angels. Or telling a caller that as a thank you we have arranged a complimentary 3 day vacation getaway. Most people are smart enough to smell a timeshare offer and avoid the high pressure sales. A pre Cendent employee who learned upon training we deal with fairfield relates her horror story with fairfields florida aka vacation.

I am not saying that our division is any better than any other of the host of companies the fall under the Cendent umbrella. Or any other multi national conglomerate. [did I spell that right?} Big business, specially sales requires some tricky dealing. Maybe not illegal but certainly walking the fine line of ethics. But then access to a whole host of "philidelphia lawyers" assures that we hover on the good side of the line and as individuals they have no clout and having a big good law firm make a class action suit takes more organization than people are willing to put into it.

Lastly you are semi right he/she is mouthing off in the wrong spot to have anything actually done. But the good people maintaining this site do so to give the good small folks a place to have thier voice heard by someone.

Outsourcing America

AUTHOR: Daniel - (U.S.A.)

I am not sure which part of Cendant you work for Wendy. However I work for in the Nashville TN office. During the last year Cendant has closed our HONOLULU call center, are LAKEPORT, CA call center and are COS (Colorado) call center. The call center in COS was closed most recently. The answer to the outsourcing is yes, Cendant does outsource to Manila the PHILIPPINES and TIJUANA MEXICO(mostly lodging reservations.) Manila took over for the TFO department, formerly QC in Nashville. QC has been forced to spread out between several departments including sales and customer care. However if you don't believe me feel free to call 888-922-8849, the cheaptickets 800 line. Ask the agent what call center there at and if they have a Manila call center. The odds are you will actually be speaking with Manila. Cendant flew our trainer and one of the Expeditor's from QC to Manila for an extended period of time. They trained the agents on how to use the Apollo system to take over for QC. As far as them speaking English, these agents were provided with teachers to train them on how to speak English and document the reservations in American grammar. These agents also picked there own names. Here are SOME names and agent sines.

Those are just some of the Manila agents, here are some of the Tijuana agents...

This is how much our CFO makes!!!

And last year our company wide raise averaged 7 cents!!!

on the right hand side it says "from the show" click on the link and there is Cendant under "C"

Too Bad For You!

AUTHOR: Wendy - (U.S.A.)

Its amazing that when people are scorned that they react the way they do. Sales is by nature not the most honest job in the book, but everyone does not follow the rules at one time or another, including you. If you were let go by this company, perhaps you should stop blaming them and spreading unfounded lies and blame the person who is truly at fault, which is you. I have been where you are more than once and we both know that the #2 company on the Fortune 500 and the company named by the Orlando Sentinel as #3 of the best family orientated companies are not crooks, cheats, or con artist. They also dont have 500,000 + owners in the Cendant timeshare group, sell 1 out of every 4 homes in the USA, rent 2 out of 5 rental cars in the world, and become the largest travel group perhaps in the world by practicing what you are saying. It is also untrue about job outsourcing for their call centers, common sense would tell you that any corporate sales call center would need fluent english speaking educated reps to deal with middle to high income consumers. With all of that said, I guess it is easy to determine why you dont work there anymore.
