To whomever this may concern,

Chemistry is an online dating site. Chemistry.com is up to no good. They will milk every possible penny out of you and take advantage of the fact that you are in search of a suitable partner. And they always have someway or the other to cover their asses. Maybe an example would give you better insight.

I saw their TV commercial a few months ago and felt that it was appealing. Since I'm busy with work all the time, it is almost impossible for me to go out and meet someone decent. And in my opinion, office romance always ends up being a bad decision; especially if one has seniority over the other. I'm sure some of you can relate to this.

Coming back to the point, I saw the TV commercial and decided to give Chemistry a shot in helping me find my special someone. So I go to their website, and filled out their fancy questionnaire, and created my account. Based on my "personality", I got an automated list of potential matches populated in my account. I saw a few profiles that i found interesting. But when i tried to initiate contact, Chemistry wanted me to sign up as a member. Of course they did...

So i checked out the membership privileges and decided to give it a shot. There were different options where i could sign up for 6 months, 3 months or just a single month. So i decided to give it a shot for a month (even though paying monthly would be more expensive); and if i did find it worth the time and money, i would probably extend my membership for a couple more months. Those were my thoughts at the time.

So 3 weeks go by, and my experience with Chemistry was horrible. The first week I had shown interest in a few profiles and waited for a response. I e-mailed customer service and asked them why I hadn't been getting any responses. I could only think that it had to be some kind of technical error. I consider myself an intelligent and very attractive young man. No response from Chemistry's support team... Big surprise, eh?

Well before I began to blame anyone, I had to be sure that there was nothing more that I could personally do to better my luck on Chemistry. So i got a very close friend of mine to create her own free account and check out the profiles of other men, so she would get a feel of Chemistry for a few days. Then I got her to take a look at my profile, to get an opinion. She said that she found it way more appealing than most of the junk she saw. She said that all the pics that i had put up were appealing and the way I had described things on my profile would grab the attention of any girl.

Now i must take into consideration that she is a friend and probably exaggerated a little. So I decided to give Chemistry a little test. I stopped being picky and showed interest with all the potential matches that were being populated on my profile. After 25 days of membership, and interest shown in over 150 profiles (some of which i showed interest just to test the system, and not because they were appealing), i had got 0 responses. Well what do you know?

I e-mailed customer support 3 more times and got no response. There was a customer support 800 number that was only functional MON-FRI 9am-5pm. How convenient.. that's when everyone is busy with their jobs! And just when i'm thinking "oh well, that's 30 days and some money that I'm not getting back", i see on my online bank account that they charged me to use chemistry for yet another month! Annoyed as i was, I took time off mid-day to give them a call.

I get this nice rep who wanted to help me but couldn't. She said that it is clearly stated in the terms-of-use section when you sign up, that your membership gets automatically renewed every month. How convenient is that! I mean, who here actually reads the huge terms-of-use section when they sign up for any account? Everyone just checks the accept box and clicks on sign me up!

I have been had by Chemistry. And I only hope that filing this report might help others. Before I had signed up for chemistry, I personally did check the ripoff reports for any trash on Chemistry. There was none. So i actually thought they were with the good guys. Hah! Hardly... Chemistry is a waste of time. The service is horrible. (I am not saying that you will not find a suitable partner on chemistry. God bless you, if you do). And to top it all off, their customer service (both email correspondence and the 800 number) is the worst.

An honest corporation, would do the right thing, they would contact you, asking you if you wanted to continue being a member, before robbing your bank account off your hard earned money. Chemistry.com could care less about you. Its just an online front to get as much as money out of you as it can!
