Sellers beware:

Chris Burylo of Calgary, Alberta Canada purchased a Sony prosumer camera from myself via a Kijiji ad on  9/5/12.  At the time of the purchase the camera was in A-1 working condition.  A quick demonstration was given of the camera (very brief) and Chris Burylo was asked if he would like to test or be shown any other features or how to operate the camera.  He quickly stated "no" and was on his way.

A few days later Chris phoned me and stated that after 30 minutes of use the camera stopped working and displayed an error code on the screen.  He was unable to eject the tape.  Being that I am NOT a Sony Service technician, nor have ever seen ANY errors appear on this camera, the only option I had was to google the error code in question to see if any other camera users have experienced the same issue.  Sure enough, many Sony users have experienced this particular error and there was numerous explanations on how to fix this error code. Along with the "resolutions" were a few listing about how this error could have been created in the first place...two of which where in regards to improper insertion of the tape by the camera operator (something that is clearly outlined in the user manul).  Kindly enough, I forwarded this information on to Chris.

Two days later Chris Burylo called me and said he was unable to "eject the tape" and would like a refund. Obviously being that 5 days had elapsed and not knowing what could have potentially been done in those 5 days coupled by the fact that the camera has never had any issues in the 3 years that I owned it, I declined any such refunds.  Chris Burylo then threatened legal action in the form of a lawsuit.  The call was ended.

Shortly after our conversation an email followed stating that Chris Burylo has initiated a ripoffreport in an attempt to tarnish my selling reputation.  In no such way was this a "ripoff".  The camera was in perfect working condition as was demonstrated to Chris at the time of purchase.  Instead of contacing a local camera service tech to see if there is a "quick-fix", Chris decided it would be best to threaten legal action and post on this site.

It's very clear that Chris Burylo doesn't understand the first thing about buying online items.  Buying items thru Kijiji is "as-is" and no warranties or guarantees are provided by the seller.  If you want a warranty, go to walmart.  It's up to the buyer to do his or her due diligence and verify everything is in proper working order. In this case, the camera he purchased was functioning properly at the time of purchase (and had been for the 3 since it was originally purchased) so god only knows what he had done with it in those 5 days.

If you are planning on selling an online item to an individual such as this in the future, I strongly recommend you think twice as he may try to do the same thing to you as he has done to me...threaten lawsuits and post unfounded claims/accusations on public websites.
