Chris Mihaletos needed work done on his two ATV - side by side's in November 2013, and he needed it completed as quickly as possible.  I had worked for him in the past (approximately 18 months ago, so I valued his business and wanted to accomodate him).  The machines were located in two different locations, about an hour apart (one at his office and one at his home).  He was unable to describe to me exactly what needed to be done, so I drove to him to diagnose the problem.  We agreed on a price of $750, signed a contract, he gave me a deposit of $400 and the work commenced.  Once the machince was physically taken apart, we found out that his axles were much further gone than estimated and I notified him that it would be an additional $185 to completely rebuild them instead of repairing them as originally planned.  He paid it immediately so that work could commence.  It could have cost him more money by paying full retail for the parts or buying brand new axles, but I spent my time getting him the best deal on all parts and putting in extra labor for the rebuild (which I did not charge for) to save him money, and an extra hour trip back to his office (also did not charge any trip charges).  The machine at his home was also completed in the time we discussed, with no unforeseen circumstances.  When I billed Chris Mihaletos for the balance he agreed to of $350,he ignored me for months and then finally after repeated attempts, he told me that he was not happy with my service and felt that I overcharged him and to send him a discounted invoice so we could put this to rest.  He agreed on the price and signed a contract before any of the work began, and never was there any indication of a problem.  I know the machines were fixed well, and there were no lingering issues with the machines on the repairs I did.  I sent him an explanation.....here is the letter which has gone unanswered for nearly 30 days and still no payment of the remaining $350 he has owed me for almost 6 months.

Chris,

I made sure to fit you into my schedule because you are a repeat customer and I value your business, and I know you needed the repairs done ASAP. There were multiples issues and broken items on the machine.   It did not run well unless you pulled the choke and let the motor warm up before you turned it off, then it would run just fine.  So, I did not do any adjustments to the motor because you wanted to keep the cost down.  I gave you a cost to fix the rear end of $625 after just looking at the machine before taking anything apart.  When I went to your office to do the work and started taking the machine apart, there ended up being even more issues than anticipated with the axles because of the broken mounts.  I understand this caused the price to change for you, but it was also more expense for me in parts, time and another trip to your office which I did not charge for.  I only charged for the extra parts which I did give at a discount, I did not get to discuss every single detail with you as to the extra repairs and the exact cost of the new parts and what I was actually charging you for them.    And because we had worked so well together in the past, I did not think it would be an issue.  If you were to take it into a shop, it would cost over $700 just to do a tune-up.  I charged you $935 (including the add-on which neither one of us were prepared for) total to rebuild both axle’s, re-weld the rear diff and tune up your Rhino.  You signed contracts for the original job prices of $625 and $125, but only paid a deposit of $400.  So, I am just asking to be paid the balance of the job we agreed upon.  I also went to your office twice and your house.  You didn’t have to load them on a trailer, take them to a shop and then pick them back up…do you put a value on your time?  I know it saved you time and in return saved/made you money!  Please send me the remaining balance of $350.00 immediately.  I completed the job as agreed upon.  Make the check payable to......... and mail it to me at.........  It has been several months, but if you have not sold the rhino yet…call me, and I will give you some tips and explain in detail how to warm up the rhino at the office so it runs good when someone wants to drive it so you can sell it for top dollar.  I hope this clears things up for you.

My Regular Price = $1270 for just the machine at the office

Your cost = $935 for two machines

If I didn’t track down the parts, instead of buying new axles the bill would have been $1120.  Technically, I gave you a discount of $520.00

It is unbelievable that there are such dishonest people in the world.  People like Chris Mihaletos that keep getting rich off of other people's hard work is why this country is going to hell in a handbasket!  What have we become as a nation?  I did the work, I gave him a fair and honest price for the materials and labor that I had into it, I should be paid for my work...especially as they were agreed upon as terms of the job and not made up on a whim afterwards!  I did my part.....Now, Chris Mihaletos needs to do his!

POSTED: Tuesday, August 26, 2014

I was very upset by the actions that I felt occurred which is what made me feel my only option was to post to rip off report (a first for me), but as it turns out Mr. Mihaletos was out of the country in his home of South Africa frequently during the time of miscommunication.  He also did not have a complete understanding of the time and expense that went into the repairs and it all ended up leading to one giant misunderstanding.  Once everything came to a head, I was contacted by Mr. Mihaletos business partner, Mr. Jepson, who was very kind, patient and understanding.  He helped both of us to mediate the situation and come to an understanding and meeting of the minds.  I have been paid in full, plus extra for the damages that it caused me.  I feel that I am “whole” and I no longer feel their company should have the negative attention that Rip Off Report may have brought them.  I tried to have the entire thing removed, but as Rip Off Report policy states…they do that for no one.  For anyone reading this or considering doing business with AIMS, PVIC or Chris Mihaletos, please do not let my words or actions in the previous post prevent you from doing so.  I would be happy to be a referral, Mr. Jepson can put you in contact with me.  Thank you.
