NEVER get the Cityadvantage plan to protect your items bought at Circuit City!! I have a PC that is three years old and had purchased this protection plan for $189.99 extra. It was a five year plan which was great, because my motherboard blew out and definately neede replacing. Unlike Besy BUy, where you just bring your computer in, they send it out for you, then call you when it's back in, Circuit City does in home repair. First you go through this long diagnostic claims process over the phone, then you have to wait 5 business days for a technician to contact you to set up an appointment.

This is how my story went. I completed this process and never heard from the technician. On the 7th day I called back and they said "he received the parts, but is no longer doing repair work". Then they informed me the technician had to be reassigned. This took another week. Finally the company Nexacor, which is sub-contracted through Cityadvantage, tells me thatthey have another technician and he has to wait for the parts to come from the old tech. Good Luck! So after battling with Nexacor, they finally agree to ship parts out to the new tech. Syntechs, which works with Nexacor, who works for Cityadavantage contacs me and says the parts are on their way. The repair shop calls and says it would be easier for them if I dropped the computer off. I have to drive an hour out of my way to do this. The place is in a realy bad neighborhood.

DHL comes with the parts and leaves them at the front door and they get stolen. Luckily the old tech has sent the parts and repair begins. A 45 minute job takes three days, of which I am then told the parts are defective. A call from the repair shop the next day states that someone else looked at it and it now works. I picked it up and got out of there. Expected turnaround time for this process,5 days ( or so I was Told). Actual 1 month.

Syntechs Techs

I have been working with syntechs sence Aug. last year, I understand the side of the customer not getting service on time. but let me tell you something, Syntech NEVER pays their partners on time and I know as myself and other tech working with syntechs, I wont do any job for them till they pay, and I know many other techs are feeling the same way. I get my Parts for the customer from Dell and I open them put the sticker on front and sent the part back to dell. The customers contact me and ask when I'm going to service them I tell them they have to call syntechs and discuss it with them...

I am unsure of the exact situation leading up to Matts problem, but at GCS we do the best we can for all customers including those with warranties from national companies.

I can assure you that we do all we can for our customers, and in matts case we offered him a faster solution then waiting for us to come onsite for a service call. Typically customers have to wait 2 - 3 days before we can dispatch a tech onsite, and if we run into a problem ( like a bad part from the warranty company) they have to wait longer.

If the machine is brought in (which we only offer for customers who have been either waiting along time before we got this service call sent to us, or are unavailible during normal business hours) we can have the machine turned around alot faster.

Basically Matts problem has little to do with GilDar because we are at the mercy of the warranty company, but if we can help matt at all we would love to do so.
