I have a HP laptop Pavillion that I purchased almost two years ago at Circuit City. I also purchased a 200.00 extended warranty.About a week ago, I left my computer on my desk and left for work in the morning. I came home and the computer would not power up, nor would it show signs of receiving any power from the cord.

I found my receipt, and thankfully my warranty covered me until 12/16/2006. I called Circuit City and they promptly had the unit shipped to Nexicare, their outsourced repair shop in CA.

I received the unit today in the mail, and was surprised to read the repair log that indicated "service denied". There was no other indication or reason given. I called the customer hot line, and they indicated to me that there was evidence of liquid damage in the front panel of the computer.

I am amazed how this liquid magically jumped on to my desk without dectection and spilled into my computer while I was away (and I live alone). I had problems with CC before, but thought that the issues were isolated incidents, but I am shocked that they will not honor this warranty.

I have read other's reports, and it is interesting how other's computers suddenly have "water damage". There was never any water damage to my computer, I think the real motivation is the proximity of the warranty expiration date. Also, interestingly enough, I have found that HP Pavillion has power chord/electrical power issues. Perhaps these are the real issues...

Please email me if your computer has suddenly developed water damage or liquid damage after sending it in for repairs. Perhaps with a significant number of "magical water damge" stories, we can bring CC to task.
