When I heard about circuitcity out of bussiness liquidation sale, so I hop on the car drove to the store and no parking is avaliable it's pack with peoples in and out of the store, look like CC is giving stuff away for FREE!!. So I finally got inside and there is sign everywhere saying " everything must go, nothing held back 10% - 30% off orginal price " I browse really quick to the TV section yea it 15% off the original price, everything else 10% and alot of junk from 10yrs ago is 30% off. Remember it off the original price tag, most of the times sale price are lot cheaper then what you get here and most important is that you have 30 days to return, else here you stuck once they ring you up.

Don't fall for glamor sign in the store & advertisement which I seen alot of people are falling for it, so when is it a good deal? my answer is just wait until it reasonable 40%-50% off.

I will give you an example, there is an Onkyo Reciever model TX-SR806 in CC original price for $999.99 and you get 10% off final price you pay is $900 + TAX, now even though I will jack this up to 30% off, you're now paying $700 + TAX...seem like good deal huh? If you check this same model on Amazon.com it listed for $620 with FREE SHIPPING !!!! and no TAX...So now you just figure out why they are going out of bussiness.

Last and finally DO NOT buy open items why??? here is why...I look at a Camera listed original price $150 then a tag cross out now you paid $110 that $40 off rite? ok..here open box item they already charge return customer 15% restocking fee which they already got $22.50, if you take $150 - $22.5 = 127.5 and look at the price you pay $110...think! are you getting a good deal? remember open item are either something is wrong already been tamper with and finally you can return them.

Good Luck out there and shop smart!

That is how a liquidation works.

When a company goes out of business a liquidator takes over their inventory. The first thing that liquidator does is put all of the prices back to the manufacturer's suggested retail price. This may be higher than the store's normal retail price and will definitely be higher than any sale price the stores may have had. At the beginning of a liquidation sale the prices are not reduced much. They are trying to get as much return on the inventory as possible. The company is closing and this income is used to pay off as much of their debts as possible. Perhaps you would prefer they gave everything away and all of the people that the company owed money to would just take it as a full loss. Then they would raise their prices to other retailers and they would have to raise their prices to us, the consumer. So I think I would rather they took their gradual markdowns and help to keep our prices the same everywhere else. That is the liquidator's sole purpose. Circuit City is no longer in charge of it's pricing. As soon as they signed the paperwork with the liquidator is was out of their hands. A lot of people have already lost their jobs because they were no longer needed to maintain pricing and inventory. Maybe next time before you complain you will think about the reason behind what you are complaining about.

I saw the same kinds of tactics here in Oklahoma too. There were no deals to be had there. It was quite a joke if you honestly think about it. However, there was a line of suckers about 30 people deep waiting to check out as I walked out of there. All they'd have to do is jump on Amazon like you said and see they can save lots of money (and no tax) by waiting a couple of days for shipping!
