In February of 2008 my husband and I bought a house in Winter Haven Florida. A few days after moving in the air went out in the house. When we purchased the home we also received a home warranty through American Home Shield, which was good for one year.

Upon the air conditioner breaking down we contacted American Home Shield AKA (AHS) and informed them of the situation. AHS took our information and then told us they would be contacting one of their contractors and that they would call us back shortly. Later we received a call from AHS informing us that City Wide Heating and Cooling would be at our home the next day.

On the day City Wide showed up at our home the technician informed us that the system was not any good and that it needed $1,200.00 worth of repairs to it. The technician then went on to tell us that AHS said that they would not cover the cost to repair the unit, due to the unit not receiving proper maintenance. He gave us our options of repairing the unit for the $1,200.00 or purchasing a new unit, and gave us prices on different units.

Being that we just moved into the home and have plans on being here for years to come we decided to just purchase the new unit through City Wide. Regretfully we did not shop around for another system through any other companies, we thought that since City Wide was contracted through AHS that they would be a reputable and trustworthy company. Were we ever wrong, we gave them $6,000.00 for a new Tappan system which was installed the next day.

On the day of the install a crew of three installers showed up and went to work removing the old system and installing the new one. While here they were having multiple problems installing the unit, and had to call another installer out to help them get it hooked up. While watching them work I looked at the new thermostat they had installed in my hall way, It was up side down? I called the technician that was called out to help inside the house and told him something did not look right with the thermostat. He looked at it and he said (those @#$%^ can't hook anything up right), then called the other installers in and showed them what they had done. After being at my home for about nine hours, they left thinking they had completed the job. They also gave us a five year warranty through City wide and we had a five year warranty through Tappan 10 years of warranty all together and we would be receiving our warranty paper work in the mail witch we never received our warranty paper work for tappan making our warrant void through them so City wide said do to there neglect they would give us another five years through them still the same thing no paper work!

A couple of months later after it really started warming up, and our New Tappan air conditioner stoped cooling and froze up. The out side unit had ice covering the copper lines and all the internal parts. We contacted City Wide informed them of the problem, the next day they had a technician out to our home (the one that sold us the unit). He checked the freon level and said that it was to low, and that during the install they just did not put enough in it and that when it got hot the system began to stress. He then topped off the system with freon and went on his way.

A couple of months later the same situation all over again, the same technician came out said that he could not find any issues with the system. He put more freon into the system and said he wanted to see if happened again. By this point it was beginning to cool off and we did not run the air for the next few months.

We have had this company out to our house 9 times this year our air is not working at all and now they say they do not servers our area ! So we are S.O.L We were scamed big time
