Al Zeigler (Zeigler Livestock) told us the mare he was selling us was SOUND & on his website he says he sells only quality horses. We received the mare and the first time our 6 yr old rode her we noticed she was limping. Our daughter got off of her and we let her rest hoping that she had maybe bumped her shoulder/leg during transport. Our daughter rode her 2 days later and the same thing happened. We immediately called Al and he said to give her some bute and that should fix it. It didnt. We took the mare to the vet and we were told she was lame in both front legs from excessive use and had been lame for some time. This was an old injury. We called Al back and he was very upset and yelled at us telling us that we lamed the horse in 6 days by riding the mare on rocks that didnt exist on our property. We took the mare to a 2nd vet in a different state and were told the same thing. The mare is lame and had been lame for some time. Al also told us that the mare was 13 and both vets determined that she was well over 20 yrs old. We call Al on a regular basis for our money back and he keeps telling us we bought the mare AS IS.
I called animal control in Britt, Ia and they are VERY aware of Mr Zeigler. I didnt want to give the name but the person I spoke with said his name without me ever saying so.
We are out $1500 and our 6 yr old out a horse. He has said he has no intentions of making the transaction right.

Al is right!! make SURE to ride his livestock before you buy from him as he may be trying to scam you too!!!! We got the x rays that he requested over and over and over and now Al Zeigler will not respond to emails, or phone messages. Two sides to every story? He's right again just be very careful what you believe from him. We trusted what he told us and he scammed us.

Al Zeigler, you asked and asked for the x-rays of the lame mare that you sold us. We have them and the report from the vet in Oklahoma AND a Radiologist at OSU. BOTH say the mare you sold us has been lame for some time, well before you sold her to us. Thats 3 trained professionals that agree with us. You wanted the x-rays, we have them, so where is the refund check?????

The lame mare you sold us was not sight un seen. We saw video of your son riding this horse AND had many conversations with you AL ZEIGLER who said that his horse was sound and kid broke. Not ONE time did you ever mention that this mare was lame!! You also told us this mare was 13 and she is well over 20. You told us over the phone before we bought her that you owned her for a month and 1/2 and then after we found out she's lame you said you owned her for over 3 years. I take it from your rebuttal about us not riding the mare first that YOU DO ADMIT to selling us a lame horse then. SHAME ON YOU AL!!! We definitely learned a lesson about Horse Traders trying to convince ppl that they are legitimate. Even our Vet knows that you are a Horse Trader, you are a worthless horse trader Al!

Guess we should have read this site first! We have all exams needed and PROOF that the mare Al Zeigler sold us is Lame. We have been told that x-rays or not we bought the mare "As is" and will NOT be receiving our money back. Were also told we waited too long to bring this to Al's attention. We started complaining that the mare was not what Al told us within the first few days and then brought the limping to his attention within 10 days. Al called our vet and Screamed at him for not telling him what he wanted to hear and said he was going to sue my husband and myself for Libel. Guess he needs to know the proper definition of the word Libel. LIBEL~anything that is defamatory or that maliciously or damagingly misrepresents.
We are in no way Misrepresenting you, this is EXACTLY what happened.

People who buy a horse without riding the horse and having it vet checked. I have been riding horses since I was 3 1/2 (no joke), owned horses since I was 7 and have never EVER bought a horse without riding the horse. You are just as responsible as the own since you bought the horse SIGHT UNSEEN.
