On October 20, 2007, I contacted the representative in Florida for NationWide (Coast-to-Coast) Transmissions, Ron Turner. Ron Turner quoted me $1297.00 to rebuild my transmission with a three year warranty granted that there are no hard parts to be replaced in the transmission. Upon inquiring him about hard parts, he assured me that there is very low possibility that hard parts are going to be necessary. I signed the agreement and provided my credit card information for an initial charge of $17.00 to begin the process. This charge was made on 10/22. After my car was picked up the next day by the towing company, Coast to Coast charged my credit card an additional $983.00. This charge was not a part of the original agreement.

I was promised that my car will be fixed within 2-3 days. A week later I still have not heard anything from Juan or anyone from Coast-to-Coast Transmissions. On 10/29 I called Coast-to-Coast Transmissions myself and spoke to the manager, Rich. Rich explained to me that hard parts were going to be needed in order to rebuild my transmission and that the new quote is $2782.00. That is $1500 more than the original quote! I am also very unhappy that Coast-to-Coast Transmissions did not contact me with this information, that is unacceptable customer service.

I spoke with Rich on 10/29 and agreed on the quoted price of $2782.00 to rebuild the transmission. Rich explained to me that the local transmission shop already had all the parts necessary to rebuild the transmission and it will be rebuilt by 11/02.

On 11/02 I decided to call the local transmission shop to inquire upon the status of repairs on the transmission. Joe, the owner, explained to me that he had not spoke with anyone from Coast-to-Coast Transmissions in the last two days. He went further and explained to me that the transmission is not rebuildable.

Clearly, Rich and Coast-to-Coast Transmissions had been dishonest with me and the local transmission shop. This type of customer service is absolutely unprofessional and unethical. Furthermore, Coast-to-Coast Transmissions have not rendered the services agreed upon in the contract.
DO NOT do business with this company. They will promise you anything to sign their contract and pay the initial $1000.00. They WILL find problems with your transmission that require the replacement of "hard parts." This will cost you much more than the promised $1297.00!
I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Attorney General of the State of Texas regarding unethical business practices of Coast-to-Coast (NationWide) Transmissions.
