I was mailed a pink letter from a company called Collect Pros that claims I owe a debt of $249.10 for a subscription to US Weekly Magazine. I never ordered this magazine, nor have I ever received any magazines in the past several years. I will not be seding them any money for this debt they claim I owe.

In the letter, I am instructed to make a payment online, by phone, or by mailing in an attached slip. I refuse to call the number because other reports on this website that I have seen regarding similar issues state that a person either cannot be reached or will just claim the debt is valid no matter what. I will not be giving them a chance to call my phone number.

I have been to their dispute website though and inserted the reference number provided on my pink letter. The site claims that “The Terms and Conditions of this purchase are verified and include an audio recording of the customer agreeing to the terms and conditions of purchase.” I have never verbally agreed to a purchase of a magazine subscription, particularly one from "Levy 9 Consulting Magazines," which I have never heard of and is the place they say I have purchased the subscription from. The date they believe I purchased this subscription is provided (06/10/14) but I have no documentation of such a purchase. Also listed on this dispute website is one of my addresses and my mobile number, which concerns me.

I fully doubt the validity of this debt.

Google searches of "Collect Pros" led me to this website and numerous reports against them for similar debt claims. My local police said there is nothing they can do because there is nothing for them to investigate, so I have tried to contact my BBB on the phone and the lady there said I should mail the company a letter stating that the debt is not mine, but I am hesitant to send anything to them.

I am very worried that Collect Pros will be able to ruin my good credit with this debt claim. I would like any help possible to clear my name and credit score if needed. Thank you.
