I agree whole heartedly. I have paid over $5000 in overdraft fees. This is because of their policy of running debits before the credits. The people at my local branch are nice enough but there doesn't seem to be anyone who has the authority to refund fees. When you are a small business with daily deposits and a slumping economy, this really hurts. I am almost going bankrupt due to this policy. They pay the checks because I have been there so long but they charge $36 for everyone that comes in after the deposit. This includes atms, pos, gas pumps, auto debits, everything gets a $36 charge. Then you are trapped because it is a constant, daily catching up cycle of deposits against fees.

Floating transactions...

It's not the policy of processing debits before credits that's causing the fees, it's the fact that you're making transactions without the available funds to cover them.
Come on, $5,000 in overdraft fees? Stop throwing your money away! You could be a little bit of interest on that 5k or at least using it for expenses.
Simply stop writing checks or using your debit card unless you have available funds to cover the transactions.

You say, "I agree whole heartedly. I have paid over $5000 in overdraft fees. This is because of their policy of running debits before the credits."
Not quite. It is because of YOUR policy of overdrawing your account. You really need to read your account terms very carefully. They will explain exactly how and when things are credited and debited to the account. The bottom line is that you are writing checks or making debits using money that is not available in your account. It's all in the account agreement.
$5K in overdraft fees? Really? And you still haven't caught on? Amazing!
