About six months about I began to get harassing letters and calls from Columbia House music club. I had signed up for their club and not bought as many CDs as they wanted me to in the given time. I told them I had lost my job and would complete the agreement when my finances approved. (They had also suckered me into joining their DVD club. I bought way over their requirement in that club.)
That didn't seem to satisfy them and they continued to demand the balance. I told them I was not going to pay them almost $100 dollars without receiving any music. They refused to let me order music and insisted that I pay the entire amount, telling me that after I paid them, I would receive vouchers that could be used to purchase the music. Being the fool that I am, I paid them the balance.
Guess what... I have not received anything from them and have emailed them and called them repeatedly. They have never responded to any emails (even though their website promises a reply in 2 days, and when calling and finally getting a human, I am told that the person on the phone cannot help me, and that someone else will have to call me back. Yeah right, like that has happened!

I too used to deal with Columbia House. I had a bill from them from a while ago. I paid it back in 2004.
I paid with a money order and never received anything saying it was paid or what. I put a tracer on the money order and found out that it had been cashed.
I contacted the BBB of Indiana and filed a complaint against them. I received a letter from the BBB that Columbia House had sent them stating that since I had made no purchases within the 2 years that I owed nothing. And that they were retuning the money I had paid.
Well this year about a couple of months ago, I receive a letter from a collection agency for Columbia House stating that I owe them money. I sent them copies of the letters that I received from the BBB stating I owe nothing.
My suggestion for you and everyone is keep your paperwork cause one day you might need it and also contact the BBB of Indiana. They helped me a great deal. Good luck to you!
