I was looking for a dog harness for my new dog. I searched several websites.

When I got to Comfy Control Harness it looked like a good deal. On the first page I had to put in my credit card info to get more information. I do a lot of online shopping, so I knew there would be a "confirmation" page or "submit order" page before I placed my order, so I entered my information.

During the process, I was not happy with the questions the website was asking me, so I clicked out of the website and never completed or placed my order.

The next day, I got an order confirmation email with the amount of money my debit card is being charged!! This is outragous!! No confirmation, no button to submit or place an order. I never even got a total showing how much I would be charged. I never saw anything showing how much shipping would cost!!! Nothing! And they charged me anyway!

They just took my credit card information and ran with it!! I have never seen anything like this before and I shop online all the time!!!!!!

Comfy Control Dog Harnass a Ripoff, Buyer Beware

AUTHOR: donna48 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, September 04, 2011

I went in to the site to buy a harnass for my dog. Oh, it tells you it will only be 10.99, what a lie. You go in to order. Well it automaticlly takes you to a order page, credit card info, remind you now, it is never showing you the price of anything. So I ordered a medium size for my dog. Then it asks if you want to upgrade to a better material for just 4.99 and get free shipping. Now I am thinking I am only paying for one harnass at 10.99 plus 4.99 which would be 15.98, so I am thinking I am getting one harnass and free shipping at 4.99, well when my order went thru, they charged my credit card, 28.96, so I will be on the phone to them first thing Monday morning. In my order I am getting a second lease, and harnass, remind you now, it never said anything about a 2nd harnass until my order went thru and I seen the bill. What a rip-off, what do I need 2 harnassess for. I only ordered one and got 2. Take my advice and do not order anything from this web-site for it is a scam. But I will get a refund on the 2nd lease, for I do want the first one, but at the advertised price of 10.99. Just wanted to let you good people know watch out for these folks if you don't want your credit card charged this much.

If you used a debit card........Company is in violation of Reg E

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, July 12, 2011

The same thing happened to me.  Never completed my order.   I used a debit card.
There is a government regulation known as Regulation E which states a company cannot charge your debit card without your permission.
When this happened to me, the CS stated that since I placed my information online, I gave them my permission.  I told her that the company was in clear violation of Regulation E and could and will be fined.
I was stupid to put info out there, but did not process order and that does not give a company permission to use my debit card.  I advised her of that.  I heard crickets.  Order was cancelled.

Looks like you placed an order

"On the first page I had to put in my credit card info to get more information."

I looked at the website.  On the first page there is a section for you  card info and your billing info, followed by a large blue button that says "Place My Order".

"This is outragous!! No confirmation, no button to submit or place an order. "

What did the large rectangular button on the first page say?   Although they may not process orders like you think they should, it seems pretty clear to me that if you give them all of your card and billing info and click a button that says "Place My Order", something is likely to happen.

I agree that it would be nice to have a confirmation page with totals like most websites have.  Personally, I would not give payment info and press a button that said "Place My Order" unless I had already been given all of the price details.
