I was called by a company named Computer Fix, Inc Apple claiming that my computer was in danger and several hackers were in my computer right now.  They could help me fix it right away but it would be $399 to protect up to 10 devices for 3 years.  I fell for it!

That was several months ago.  I could see there little icons showing when they were blocking things so I felt like it was a good thing I got this security fix.  No for the kicker... they called me again the other day saying that something I did jeopardized the security and they went into a long explaination about it but in the end said I would need to buy this software program and it would stop all hackers.  They told me that I could get it from Amazon or Walmart so that I would know it wasn't a sales tactic from them but they were navigating in my computer at the time and since they did such a good job putting the fear in me that I stupidly went along with them.

I came to my senses in the first minute of them doing what they do when they take over your computer and I powered off.  They immediately called me and said I needed to power back on or my computer would crash and be irrepairable.  I told them that I was going to research whether or not they were reputable and I would call them back if I found that they were.

The tech kept calling me back on my cell phone over and over while I was on the phone with American Express.  Amex confirmed that they are big scammers and flagged the payment from them and said it would not go through.  They told me to report it and they were doing their own report too.

I want to get back my original $399 but don't know if that will ever happen!

Don't let anyone into your computer unless you absolutely know you are talking to the right person.  I called Apple directly and they gave me free tech support and got everything from them off and installed adwaremedic for me.

From now on I will take my Mac to the Apple Store or call them directly.
