Not long ago I graduated from Computertraining.com.  I was supposed to get three certifications when I graduated but ended up only getting 1 and narrowly missing the 2nd by just a few points.
I went into this training with the assumption I would be given all the tools during and after  this program to make myself successful.  I am in my mind 20s and hit some hard times and decided to move back in with my grandmother to save money and go to school.  I found computertraining.com and was instantly excited about the possibility of a new and exciting career.  I fell directly for their trap.  I did not quite have the money to pay for schooling and my grandmother said she would give me a couple thousand dollars to put toward the near 30k tuition cost on the condition I devote all my time 100% to school.  I had an ok job but it was seasonal, sometimes and I had just gotten a furlough for a minimum of 8 months.  Devoting all my time to this was going to be easy for me.
I did everything I was supposed to do.  I did the right amount of hours of in class study, came before class to get a bit extra assistance. I was diligent in tracking down the so called career services representative for the school.  I hit a rough patch where the information was not clicking and was not confident I could pass the final certification tests.
This was a few months into the program and my employer miraculously called me back and asked me to work. I was not prepared to work 16 hour days again making 12 dollars an hour and wanted to stay true to devote 100% time into school.
Not long after this, the instructor informs me that it is very rare for someone to graduate with all the certifications and usually about a year to a year and a half AFTER the program they will reach those certs and the "good money" does not come for some time after that.  As crushed as I was, I pushed on, did not give up and still graduated with just 1 certification. I was hoping this would put me into a better paying job than my last one.
When I started working with their career assistance department, the only help I got was form emails about job postings on 3rd party websites and a resume template to use..oh, and a paper on what is the proper things to wear to an interview.
I ended up landing a job at Best Buy, for geek squad..making 9.50 an hour. I couldn't get any other job because I had no real experience and not enough certs. I transferred up to selling computers for Best buy just to make 10.50/hr. Obviously much less than what I was making and only working 33.5 hours a week, as opposed to 50 hour weeks at 12 dollars an hour.  Now I have a car payment a HUGE student loan to take care of and not enough money to put gas in the car, pay for the car, pay for a nice suit to wear to an interview, not enough to pay my minimum loan balance. I am screwed.
I figured I would try to get back in touch with their career service person since initially I was told I would be able to come back for assistance, whenever as a computertraining.com graduate. NEVER have I received a call back or an email back.
I decided to call the sales person who phoned me to begin with. I called, left a message or 2 but never got a response. I decided to send an email. All I could get back from that was something that said, "I will forward your message on to my Director."  So I decided to be proactive and call the Director person I met with way back then. Never have gotten a response to 6 voicemails and 17 emails.
Now, I look into the program again, asking general questions when I call their phone number and find that the tuition had DROPPED a whole lot since I left the program. This makes me more mad because I paid out the wazoo for something I never FULLY received. Now I can not get help from them finding other jobs, like they said I would when I enrolled. I have even left voicemail messages on their general mailbox during the non business hours thinking maybe it goes to someone who cares about what I am going through, I have yet to get a response from them either.
But I suppose it does not matter to ANYBODY at that so called school since they have my money and they dont care what happens to me anymore. Now I see they have a .edu domain name, they should burn in hell for that since .edu should be reserved for REAL education institutions.
I am at such a loss now because my ex-employer has no position for me since I turned them down when I was in school, thinking I was making something of myself. I feel like things would be much better if I disappeared from the face of the Earth because I feel like such a failure. The only thing that keeps me going is the woman who raised me, my grandmother.  We only have each other.
Never go the computertraining.com.edu.scamu.edu.  They will tell you anything you want to hear to get your money then leave you on the side of the road like a dead deer when they are done with you.

To hell with you computertraining.com, I hope you all burn in hell for what you have done to me and to what you have do to the countless other silent voices out there.

ctc is a scam

AUTHOR: b - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 06, 2010

I attended ctc & interned (hoping to get more experience) passed top of my class have my mcp, mcts-xp vista n 7, mcsa server 2003 and one test from my mcse, so im not the dumb a*s who failed thats complaining! the second response to this rip off report thats kinda defending computertraining.com... You are probably in one of the classes that just got screwed when ctc closed their doors last week...so how much do you like them now? and ctc is a ripoff the instructors are recent graduates of the course, so 6 months qualified them to teach? the tuiton is ridiculous I payed almost $30,000 and the price has fluctuated from that to as low as $10,000 all for the same coursework...nice. They taught you enough to qualify to work at geek squad, real companies use microsoft OS to turn the computers on and third party software to actually run their business...who uses ISA? NO ONE! The career services for life must have been for ctc's life. the BullS*** their putting on their website blaming the bank and making themselves out to be the victim is BullS*** they knew this was coming thats why they stopped suppling coffee, sugar and other item from their schools over a month ago...and they didnt know what was about to happen? the labs sucked and were full of problems the students were given labs and told to figure it out...how does someone who knows nothing about a subject and payed 30G's to learn expected to figure it out when ctc payed a guy 80-100G's a year to make the labs incorrectly to begin with? The instructors told students they would fail dumb asses to protect the other students investment...whats our investment worth since they closed? I could go on and on about the shadiness of ctc but I am coming to the conclusion that they scammed alot of people out of alot of money, ran and everyone got f****d and owes sallie mae (theives) alot of money for a long time...isn't life great you try to make your life better but everyone in this world is out to f*** as many people as they can and they get away with it. Maybe I should start a school of my own have accet accreditad me like ctc charge a ton of money and go out of business and move to paradise and enjoy the rest of this shitty thing called life while all the people I scammed are screwed out of alot of money. Hey maybe Obama will print a bunch of fake money and give it to ctc like he did when the banks stole everyone money :)

You got what you paid for....

AUTHOR: FrankW - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, December 14, 2009

Hey, I am just curious what certification you actually got? I would venture to guess that you just obtained a Operating System Certification which yeah...you shouldn't expect to get much of a job out of. You see the way these programs work is you are required 1 operating system certification, then a couple mandatory certifications, then an elective certification. All of this can be verified on Microsoft's website. If you get just an operating system certification then yeah....Best Buy would likely be the best job you could get as these certification are focused on installing and configuring an OS in more of a single workstation/workgroup environment. You will never get a great paying job with a company with out learning more than one certification. The number of certifications you obtain is based on what your willing to put in time wise to learn the information. Any one of the instructors with this company will tell you the same thing, if you work for it, you can and will obtain the proper credentials for a good paying job. Obviously they won't promise a job because, well, they can't promise you employment....So in the case of this person, just like say if they had went to college, you have to put in the proper amount of time or you will fail. If you are failing then you obviously need to put in more time. The money you paid to them was strictly for the instructor to teach you. If you went to class and listen to lectures, watched demonstrations, etc. then you got what you paid for.

On a similar note, I am a current student there and when i started reading these posts was absolutely disgusted at the lack of truth or omission of it on this website. I am about 66% (2 months remaining) through the program and have obtained 2 MCTS certs, my MCP, and am working on my MCSA (Only 1 exam away now as of today). This has NOT been easy by anymeans. Taking on this program means you give up a lot....but it also mean you have to make a commitment to yourself for a better life in the future because of what you give up for a short period of time. This reminds me of a qoute actually... Dave Ramsey, who if you don't know is an absolutely brilliant person in Finances, something he says that very much apply's here: "Live like no one else now, so, you can live like no one else later". Anyway's...just because your out of the program doesn't mean that you can't try and finish your certs and get where you need to be to actually make good money, it just means you will need to put even more effort in....

Good luck to you and anyone else that is looking for a life changing oppourtunity.
