I heard the radio advertisement like many people did. I'm not sure what radio stations advertise it, but I heard it mostly on 100.7 or 92.3FM. Although I think I heard on 107.9 as well. Anyways, like most people I'm sure, took the online skills challenge which is pretty easy to say the least. After all, you heard the $50,000 promotion and you think, I should go do the skills challenge now. I did end up taking the skills challenge and I decided to go to the center to see what this program was all about.

I know that to actually attend an informational session you need to achieve a certain score. The test is quite easy I think all you have to do is pass the first test. Really, if you know how to turn a computer on you could do it. During the information session I sat in on a class and there was another session about the training program. I have to say they did a nice job. Although at that time I was being taken in by the scam like the others there that day.

I signed up for the loan with Sallie Mae. This is mistake I think I will never forget. I totally believe what they told me and really I didn't think I could get a MCSE by the end of the program. I thought that was really too much and I intended to get my MCP and use the job placement program to find me a job where I could learn and get experience.

During this time, like a lot of other people in the class we studied and did the homework. I have to say our teacher Ron Sanchez was pretty decent. He did try to help those that were having trouble. I would like to think I have a lot of computer knowledge because I already knew basic networking principles and hardware before I entered the class. For such an accelerated class though, there were individuals in there that I didn't think belonged in there. They really duped some people that were cut from their factory jobs or were working fast food into thinking I can get a nice job in the IT field. Although our teacher was excellent, I believe that most of what he told us was lie.

I got to the end of the program and I wasn't able to get my MCP during the program. My job at the time was very time consuming and although I did study I did not feel prepared to take the test. I remember our teacher telling us that he wanted all of us to pass our MCP during the course. I think I know why though, since I have been told the instructor is given a bonus for each student that has it. I think only one student in our class we able to pass 3 tests. The advertisement says, "Become MCSE in 6 months!" Even with students who put in a lot of work it's still very hard to do.

I did got my MCP after the program ended and I thought that I still have career services. I did everything as they had told me about putting your resume online and submitting it to a lot of different jobs. I thought their career services would do more and had connections with companies like it states on their site. I have emailed and spoken with the Career Support person at the Independence location. I did submit it with one person(Carrie Martin) but I was later told nothing was done about it since she went on pregnancy leave. I was contacted by their second person(Erica Sillasen) after I sent an email through corporate. She said she would submit it but no one has ever contacted me. It really seems they don't care anymore since they already have my money.

I have read a lot of reports on ComputerTraining.com and I can whole heartedly agree about what people say about this organization. I wish I could get my $25,000 back but I really don't think that will happen. They have devalued IT certifications by giving you Testprep software and Mastermind. I did get an interview with an IT hiring firm(by my own work) and even he said some of the students in ComputerTraining.com didn't know a lot about computers and really were taken in by them. A paper MCSE means nothing and I knew this a long time ago. I was sold by the companies on their website and I felt they could get me into the IT field. Nothing has happened yet, and I believe nothing will.

I know now that I was fed lies through the entire program and I did everything that was asked of me. I feel very badly about all the other people in the class that took it with me. They were supposed to train us in the interview process as well, like what to say on an IT interview but this never happened. All the interviews I got on my own. They did help me tidy up my resume but that's all they did. They career services and promises of a career in the IT field are all lies.

Although they do train you it's really just a scam. Like I have read with so many other complaints about ComputerTraining.com they are only interested in greed.
I don't think you can even call it a school. Is it even registered? All I know is I am paying off my loan and I am sick of all the money I lost. I don't care to see any comments below this about how I didn't put the work in. I did what so many others did and they do not care about you once you "complete" the program. I could do the rest of the test and get a "paper" MCSE but does it really mean anything anymore? I should of gone through a college and gotten a degree.

In conclusion, in my experience I was fed a lot of lies. The only truth I know is that I am slowly paying off $25,000. I hope that anyone that works with ComputerTraining.com can't sleep at night for what they have done with their lies to people and signing them up for loans. I remember being told $25,000 is easy to pay off if you are making $50,000 a year. Yes, I suppose it would be if I had that type of a job. With all their promises a lot of people believed it, myself included(which I am ashamed for admitting). Our teacher even told us that 6 months to get an MSCE is near to impossible.

I did everything that was asked and in the end got screwed. Feel free to comment below, I don't really care what you have to say. You can call me lazy and say I didn't put the work but I feel like I did. I don't feel the need to waste more money trying to pass the other tests for MCSa and MCSE. I have wasted enough money. I know other people feel the same as I do about this and I wanted to share my experience.

WRONG

I would first of all like to say that what you say here is very wrong. I am a student at computertraining.com and I enjoy it very much, you say that in six months you can have a brand new job making over 50,000 a year did you not?. Well if you actually listened to what your instructor had to say and payed attention to the papers that you yourself clearly had signed it noted that this program is to help you jump start a new career in the IT field. It never once said that it guaranteed you a job after those six months or even start a job making that much income right off the bat. And you also say that they were supposed to help you with how to better prepare with an interview, the problem is you proably did not take the time to actually get up and speak with the person in head of career support, they are to HELP you try and FIND a job. I do not think you have any right at all to slander this company, people actually work hard in this program and do get jobs after the program has ended and some dont. Just because you didn't take notice to the papers you signed doesn't give you the right to speak badly of the people who work for computertraining.com. And as far you saying the instructor's getting money for every person passing the test during the program I think you are very wrong.Think about it the instructors are certified to teach others to become microsoft certified and have worked many, many years to get where they are now, I'm sure they make enough money that they dont even have to be there.Microsoft would not just throw a rag tag team of people to teach something like this. My instructor gladly helps all of us if we need the help even as far as offering to spend extra time before and or after to answer our questions. So in the conclusion of this you yourself had a bad experience because of how you went throught the program you have no other person to blame but yourself. And as far you not finding a job I think you did a bad job with the interviews. And if anyone else reads this they can clearly see your grammar is off learn to spell!!.

ComputerTraining.com was the best decision I made.

AUTHOR: Melissa - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, April 09, 2009

I graduated from the Independence Ohio ComputerTraining.com location in April of 2008. Before ComputerTraining.com I filed homeowner's insurance claims and reviewed foreclosed properties for damages. At this point I did not know what I wanted to do with my life or which career path I wanted to take. After high school I originally decided I was going to go to college to become an chemical engineer. I attended college for a couple of years and then realized how long it was going to take and I did not care for the college environment that I was in. The class room had 30 plus students and the teachers could care less whether you passed or failed the class. I was actually going to take some time away from school to completely decide what I wanted to do and where I wanted to go in life. Then, one day I heard an ad for ComputerTraining.com and the online skills test. Computers have always fascinated me and I knew the basics like, checking e-mail, task manager, and some preventive maintenance. I figured IT would be a perfect fit for me since it is ever changing and I am the type of person that tends to get board with the same routine easily.

While visiting the center before signing up for the program they stated that I would need to work on the material for about 10 hours outside of the classroom, which I thought was a reasonable amount of time. After all this is a six month program that covers about four years of college. About a week into the class, I realized that I was going to have to put in a lot more time to fully succeed in this program. On average I spent about 25 hours outside of class each week to learn all of the information. I did not get much sleep nor did I have much free time since I was also working a full time position while attending class two nights a week.

The instructor was always there if I had any questions or needed any assistance with the labs. His classroom was open at 2:00 p.m. and I was able come in during my lunches at work to request further explanations on material that we have previously covered. He truly cared about our futures and wanted to make sure that we all did well in the class and in our new careers. The instructor was also extremely knowledgeable and brought his real world situations to the classroom. The class time was usually split 50/50 between lectures and labs. The lectures and labs provided the class with the knowledge needed to pass the exams and the hands on real world experience needed to obtain our new IT position. Each day provided us with different piece, sometime pieces; of the puzzle that we were able to put together day by day to help us complete the puzzle of the information technology field.

The program was so fast paced I never really understood how much information I was actually receiving, since our class was all learning the information and growing as a group at the same time. Then, one day I asked a member of my IT department a question about the authentication protocols and they barely knew the topic and could not answer my questions that I had. I do have to add that this was during the third month in the program, and he was in the middle of his second year in college for IT. This was a real wakeup call that I knew more information than people in the field and other schools knew.
We received the test prep software to prepare for the way we take exams, Self Test and Readiness Review, both of which are recommended by Microsoft in their learning programs. The Microsoft exams were extremely difficult, so it was nice to have this software included on top of the lectures and hands on experience that we received in class.

When I received my MCP I did not have the time to start the job search, even though at that time I was qualified for an IT position. After I received my MCSA, I decided to begin my job search since there was only about a month and a half left of the program and I really wanted a job in the IT field shortly after graduation. While looking for a new job ComputerTraining.com assisted me in putting together my resume and did a mock interview with me to help prepare for the interviews. I started my new IT job two weeks after the program ended as a help desk representative. I did not care two much for the company after two months there, so I started looking for a new job. During this transition, the career services department was behind me the whole way sending out my resume and helping me find another position in the industry. I was able to land my second position shortly thereafter. I still am considered a help desk representative but I now have more IT responsibilities, and handle support for approximately 5,000 individuals.

When the course was over I only had one more exam to pass for my MCSE, which means I had my MCP and MCSA before the class was even over. With the skills that ComputerTraining.com taught me I continued to obtain several additional Microsoft certifications. Since the program ended I obtained my MCSE, MCTS for Windows Vista and Server 2008, and also my MCITP Enterprise Administrator for Server 2008. They have also helped me build my confidence and teamwork skills. All of which have allowed me to excel and I now have the ability to infinitely grow within the information technology field.

For anyone considering ComputerTraining.com there is a lot to keep in mind. First and foremost, nothing is guaranteed in the program, you need to be willing to work hard. The harder you work the further you will go and the more you will get out of the program. This includes having to put your personal life on hold for six months. This is a tough program and is not meant for everybody. If you are looking for a career change or simply trying to advance your career, I would highly recommend ComputerTraining.com. It is a life changing experience that is worth each and every penny spent.
