My Husband and I bought a Whirlpool Window Air Conditioner from Conn's on June 9th with a 24 month service contract. We asked before purchasing the unit if our living 2 1/2 hours away would affect service or if we had any problems with the unit in any way they replied NO.

When we got the unit home and installed it was not blowing cold air we called Conn;s the next day and told them . Their reply was did you take it out of the box? My husband replied of course how else will you install it. They refused to take it back because it was out of the box.

They was telling us in the beginning that for the first year it was the responsibility of the manufacturer We called Whirlpool. They played this was Conn's responsibility this went on until the 11th of June. I had had enough! I called them both and me and the manager of the store had some extremely harsh words I figured at this point it was about time. Nice definitely did not get us anywhere.

I finally got in touch with someone at Whirlpool that made some sense and understood the sitaution. They offered to send someone out the first people we talked to gave us numbers to call of their repair techs. Since we live ina small town this was all long distance. They got someone to come look at it it was out of freon.They filled it up and it was cooling for the first time. Later that night it stopped blowing cold air and was back to desert heat.

We had a death in our family so we had to leave for a few days we turned the unit on low and shut the door to our bedroom. When we came home this room was luke warm. This is an 8,000 but a/c it should cool up to 300 sq ft our room is only 108 sq ft.

Tuesday we called and asked spoke with someone about this again. They told us to call back the repair tech. he refused to come he wanted milage and hung up. Whirlpool called he got the same thing and even after offering him overtime money still refused? he called Conn's they gave him the run around like they did us. he told me that this should have been handled right off and that the people they have contracts with like conn's and repair techs have to go out when called....

Well seems to me someone needs to do some talking and get this matter straight. the other repair techs were called most wouldnt touch it and the other two was not coming until monday and tuesday of the following week. now it is over 100 degrees my husband works 12- 16 hours nights and sleeps days talk about uncomfortable. I have health problems and just has surgery that I came close to loosing my life. as matter of fact I did die on them in recovery. we have had two deaths in our family a week apart and I am having to deal with this situation?

Conn's solution was for us to bring the unit back down to Lafayette for them to look at.... N ow aint this the reason for a service contract? their response was we now live out of their service area. Amazing how all this changes after they get your money!

Whirlpool kept apologizing for the situation but no one is doing anything to correct it.It is now friday and I am thoroughly Ticked off now. I am burning up stressed to no end have no patienece left and hav e been lied to jerked around and ign ored for a solid month and a half. I called whirlpool to get this matter esolved. we no longer want this product it is defective and still is. we want our money back!

When this first started we only wanted to get it fixed or replaced and was trying our best to work with them now it has turn ed into some kind of nightmare that will not end. Whirlpool's supervisors say we have a service contract and therefore they have to send someone to fix itand that wont be till monday 3 days from now not to mention this is just to get someone out. If parts are needed it could be as much as three weeks to get them in.

I was always under the impression thaat if you buy a product and it is defective they had to either replace the item or give you a refund. what happened to this law? it seems that now company and businesses can take your money give you faulty merchandise and it becomes your problem. these sevice contracts are a joke and not worth the paper they are wrote on neither is the stores policy or word.

I strongly advice anyone NOT to buy from Conn 's or anything by Whirlpool because you will not get service. At this point we may have to seek a legal represenative to get this matter resolved.Conn's is just that A CON! Basicly we have paid nearlt $300 to sit and swelter in the summer heat!

After over two months of waiting and arguing I finally got my money back through Whirlpool. Conns did nothing but push this back on the maufacturer. Although I am glad to have finally got the matter resolved after roasting in the summer heat for two months. I still think Conn's is wrong and they shoul;d have handled this from the start.

If customer service is this bad here and many other places then we all have a serious problem. I know for sure I will never shop at Conn's again! They do not sppreciate the business they get nor do they do their customers right!
