During the first two years with Consumer Portfolio Services my payments have been on time but due to recent setbacks my payments have been on time or within 30 days. Since that time they started calling my phone daily up to 8 times a day but only leaving a message one time. They are doing that so that wont get accused of harrassment. They are calling my work and calling my personal references looking for me. I was getting pissed at this company. They are very rude on the phone. They even threatened to come take my car if I didnt make a payment. I wasnt even 30 days late.

I have lately had the unfortunate luck of having to do a few deferred payment arrangements because of recent hardships with having to pay child support. I checked my credit report and saw some errors on my report stating that I was 30 days late 3 months in a row and saying that I paid $700 to get caught back up when I never did. Now I have a a year left to pay and they are saying that I owe $1700 more than what my payoff is. My last statement said my payoff was $6300 and when I called them about a recent attempt for a deferred payment they said my payoff was $6600. How could it go up in less than a month? I told the lady on the phone that you cannot add money to my balance which it seems they are doing.

Also since around May I started having car troubles. I'm really starting to wonder if somehow they have remotely  accessed my car's computer and doing something to make my car start messing up. I have 2007 Chevy Impala and really wasnt having any problems with the car. Just a thought and maybe it's just the car....but you know know who is watching you. Bottom line people is that this is the worst car loan company that I have dealt with. My credit has been for crap now and cannot get a loan because of this company plus with the high payoff I will get screwed again if i tried to get another loan.

I would like to know if there is anything I can go about this company? Are there any pending class action lawsuits against this company that I can be a part of?

Time for Jim to get rebutted too lol.

AUTHOR: Graham WA - ()

"YOU and only YOU turned on their collection machine." - Jim.

CPS turns on their collection machine the moment you drive out of the showroom and to try to deny that is 100% dishonest!

They are well known for lying and trying their best to deceive customers even to the point where they have been handed down a set of rules from the court that they agiamn seem to be ignoring in favour of their preferred tctics.

As for stating that car problems are in the mind of the user as your alter ego Robert states then why is it that several state consumer protection agencies are beginning to file lawsuits against lenders like CPS over their disabling or severly handicapping customers cars via an embedded system that they had installed?

So as in the case of Robert if you are indeed different trolls please sir get your facts straight before you start belittling other people.

Wrong as Usual trolls.

"Your credit report doesn't give you a history of payments."  - Robert.

Please before you post your usual crap Robert check out the facts first!  I get reports from all four (yes four) credit reporting companies free every month and each one let's you view at least a 24 month history of payments.  So Just like your possibly alter ego Jim you are on shaky ground before you even open your hateful and company troll paid mouth ;)

Sir if you expect even after your ridiculous defence of this now heavily censured by the courts company at least try to get the facts you love to spout straight! Your statement sounds exactly like CPS agents who always either lie or try at the best to deceive people in order to get what they want.  To use one eaxample I was quoted by a so called customer service manager " We don't make mistakes only our clients do that, then they have to pay us for their mistakes.  If you want your title without paying extra then try taking us to court and we'll see who wins"  I thank the idiot for those comments as it cost your company a fine plus attorney fees and compensation for me too :)

Are you serious????

Im trying to figure out just what you are talking about with intelligent rebuttal. Didnt know I needed a degree for writing what's on my mind. Let me say a few things here so the rest of the class can understand. For one, I never asked for anyone to bash what I wrote. Isn't this site for people trying to help other people? Obviously I was mistaken. And as for the "work for them" comment, why else would a total stranger want to talk good about a company that someone else writes about? Maybe that is what your job is, to search this site and talk bad about what others write. Why don't you put your mouth good to use and tell someone WHO GIVES CRAP what you say because I could care less. You think that people dont have problems in there lives. Seriously there are others worse off than me. So find someone to hassle!!!!!!

Typical Sorry Deadbeat Response

AUTHOR: Jim - ()

POSTED: Monday, November 17, 2014

Since you have zero intelligent rebuttal, it's the standard, worn out wailing of "You must work for them!"  Anytime some wailing, excuse making deadbeat goes that route, it's an absolute dead giveaway those who have written their responses have hit the nail directly and squarely on the head!

Deadbeat?

AUTHOR: Doug - ()

POSTED: Monday, November 17, 2014

Im not saying Im wasnt to blame for my payments being late. And my excuses have all been legit. Im a single father and paying $750 now but was paying $900 a month child support/spousal maintenance. So yes money was an issue like everyone else on this earth. I have done the best that I can but obviously means nothing to no one. But my payments arent that late where its running up $1700 in interest fees.

I do have a second job for your informaton. With my house payment and car payment my fulltime job just barely covers that. The second job covers everything else plus the help from my son. I live paycheck to paycheck with paying child support. Do you pay child support? Probably not or you would know how that is.

Deadbeat theory....pffft

AUTHOR: Doug - ()

POSTED: Monday, November 17, 2014

First of all you do not know me at all to be talking smack about about me and i really dont need to explain myself to you. But why not. You think you have everyone all figured out and seems to me that you must work for that company to be sticking up for them. I am a divorced father of 4 kids and have to work 2 jobs just to make ends meet. I have a house payment and car payment totalling $1100 with my fulltime job just barely covers that. My second job covers the rest of my bills, food, and gas. Oh yes, have to have my son help out with the utilities. But seriously, you have no clue about my history and honestly dont care what you have to say about me.

I could have posted that credit report but its my report and is confidential. But trust me it is there. And you are wrong, it does give history of payments. Maybe you are not checking yours or you would have known that. But again I DONT CARE what you have to say anymore.

This was a report about how this company has been screwing people around. I just wanted to say my peace. So get a life and keep knocking people on what they post here. You must be getting paid to say bad things about people and what they post. I have better things to do than waste my time replying to this.

Wow...Best Deadbeat theory ever

My credit has been for crap now and cannot get a loan because of this company plus with the high payoff I will get screwed again if i tried to get another loan.

- Ah yes the typical Sub-Prime additude of blaming everyone else.  Well I have news for you.  This company is a Sub-Prime lender the ONLY reason you were with them in the first place is because you have not proven you can handle credit.  Now, if that was because of a lack of credit or you basically have a history of stiffing other companies is something only you know.

But as we have seen by your "ripoff"...you have continued that history of not being able to meet your obligations.

I was getting pissed at this company.

- You were getting pissed at them?  Well guess what...they are getting pissed at you as well.  The only difference is that they are the ones who are right.  You see YOU signed a legal agreement that stated you would make a set payment on a set day for a period of time.  YOU FAILED TO DO THAT.  So of course they are going to call you wanting THEIR money...don't you get that?

Also, in that agreement you also agreed that when you are late you agree to certain things.   This includes additional fees and interest.  So yes your balance is going to increase.

As for your deferment, that just defers your payment until the end, it doesn't just make the payment go away.  Oh and yes that again will cost additional interest.

I checked my credit report and saw some errors on my report stating that I was 30 days late 3 months in a row and saying that I paid $700 to get caught back up when I never did.

- Your credit report doesn't give you a history of payments.  Now, it will give you your last payment but that is it.  My guess is that you were playing with the 30-Day late trying to push your payments as close to 30 days as possible...and you eventually lost.  You see even 1 over 30 days will have you reported.  Now, the payment isn't counted until it is received, so there is no "Well the check is in the mail".  It also doesn't include partial payments.  So if you owed $250 and paid $225 before 30 days and $25 after the 30 days(for example), the 30-Day late is valid.  Of course if you have proof that you made your payments before the 30 days you have the legal right to dispute it with the Credit Reporting Agencies.

Also since around May I started having car troubles. I'm really starting to wonder if somehow they have remotely  accessed my car's computer and doing something to make my car start messing up.

- WOW...I give  you an A+ for the stupidest claim ever.  Do you really think you are that important to them?  They don't need to do anything like that.  All they need to do is when you are late is to excersise their legal right and REPOSESS your car.  But then again what can people really expect from a Deadbeat.

The Wailing of a Deadbeat

AUTHOR: Jim - ()

POSTED: Friday, November 14, 2014

YOU and only YOU turned on their collection machine.  But then again, you are with them because YOU gave YOURSELF a documented reputation of NOT paying your bills on time.  I'll bet you had one excuse after another back then too just like you do now.

Anytime you fail to make a payment on time or have payments delayed, you run up more interest and late fees.  That's why the balance is going up.

Perhaps now is the time for you to be making your payments on time, even getting a part-time job to do so instead of wallowing in the slop of being a deadbeat.

No, I don't work for them.
