Consumer Protection publication is a fraud!!! I know I am an ex employee trying to get the word out on this company. Consumer protection publications markets a $397.00 BOOK that contains a list of banks as if it was a CREDIT CARD!!!
Selling this book as if it is a done deal buy the book get the card with a low rate of 10% interest just select the bank you want to do business with. The opening pitch goes like this "HI this _____ with consumer protection publication I was calling concerning your visa and mc accounts.
Why is this a scam first of all the script is designed obviously to make you think that this is your current credit card company calling or that they have some sort of access to your current accounts (THEY DONT HAVE ANYTHING) no information about payment history nothing. Secondly in the state of Arizona under state law ANY MISREPRESENTATION OF ANY KIND IS A CLASS ONE FELLONY FRAUD.
Third reason why in the sales pitch the rep states that all the banks on the list offer a 10% fixed rate of lower. LIE!!! I have personally contacted several of these banks some do not even nor have they ever offered the rates quoted in this "finacial guide" additionally some of the banks offer the rate only if contected to a home equity line of credit.
This makes the entire thing fraud and mis representation. That is a class one felony fraud in the state of AZ punishable by a min sentence of 5 yrs in prison for each offense. If my statement seem wander its only because of how corupt this company is. Now in addition to everything I've said this company is defrauding the bank they have their merchant account with to take credit cards.
Recently they lost their merchant account because of too many disputes!!! Thats when you call your credit card company and question a charge on your acct. In order to get a new merchant account this company had to say that they were an internet based business.
Guess what now they are commiting bank fraud. If you have been burnt by this company do three things for me as well as yourself.
1st-Call your credit card company and tell them your were scammed. Do not let anyone at CPP try to convince you that your order is not subject to cancellation.
2nd-If you are a victim of this scam call the attorney general in your home state and file a complaint!!!-KY residents your states attorney general has already notified Cpp not to call or attempt to sell in their state again or face prosecution.
3rd-Call the attorney generals office of Arizona and file a complaint stating that you were defrauded
For those of you that have been burnt by this company here are some phone number to call if you can not get thru on cpps toll free number they are 1-888-205-8077 or 602-870-7554(direct line to the 1908 we dunlap address.
Call and ask to spk to Bill Crosby (owner) Greg Gomez(director of operations) Larry Rodgers(verification) Sudan (he is the night manager)

The only reason I intailly responed to this thread is because I have been a TSR for several years. Companies that aren't straight forward about their product makes it harder for TSR's that are being above board to sell their produts.
I just had some thoughts on this particular subject and I just wanted the public to know my thoughts. Do you have a problem with that? If you do, then you are the one that needs to be open and honest.

A Program would imply that there would be reps available
AUTHOR: Marilyn - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Saturday, June 28, 2003
"......making sure the customer understood the PROGRAM they were getting involved in...PROGRAM....not a CREDIT CARD." If I understand what was being sold here, this is not a "PROGRAM". It is INFORMATION.
A Program would imply that there would be reps available to assist you with devising and implementing a plan of action. Isn't this product just a book/booklet where a person could find information on low interst credit and how to go about securing it? Even if the information included step by step instructions on how to improve your credit this is not a program, just information.
"......This company has less than 100 complaints in over 15 years. If they are writing an average of 5000 deals a year, thats over 75,000 customers and to have less than 100 complaints is OUTSTANDING." My first question is, what type of complaints where they? Second, if you are only selling 5000 a year, how is this company making any money. If Stephanie's claim that she sold 4 a night that means she would be responsible of 1/5 of all sale made when she worked there. Logic tells me that these figures were just pulled out of thin air.
If you want to make a claim like this, you should come up with more realistic figures.

mailing lists and are resold by list brokers to other businesses
AUTHOR: Roy - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Wednesday, June 25, 2003
People have a tendency to get negative and burn a bridge when things go sour in a working relationship. I worked at CPP and can say that many hours were spent reviewing sales pitches to the consumer, verification scripts making sure the customer understood the PROGRAM they were getting involved in...PROGRAM....not a CREDIT CARD. Every day banks send out mail telling people they are PRE APPROVED!! Fill out the application. Oddly enough, mnay of those responses end up on mailing lists and are resold by list brokers to other businesses. I know for a fact that anyone who was a senior citizen was not offered a program and was subject to immediate termination if it happened. This company has less than 100 complaints in over 15 years. If they are writing an average of 5000 deals a year, thats over 75,000 customers and to have less than 100 complaints is OUTSTANDING. Car dealerships have lemons, car manufacturers have thousands of recalls, people are not happy after they do something(that is why it is called remorse) but in this case, the customer has answered a series of questions before they are offered the program, unfotunately, buyers are liars and when they get caught and the program backfires on them, the company is called the bad guy. People didn't need Don Lapre to get a 900 number. Folks certainly don't need Carlton Sheets to find real estate. The company offers a complete service. Not just banks offering low rates. People are willing to pay for a service if it is more convenient. We hire landscapers to do our lawns, painters to paint our homes, etc. A lot of people are in the bad credit positon they are in because they had no help. The company can provide it. I personally saw many people getting better rates, saving a ton of money and improving their lives. They were willing to pay for a program and follow through. One thing I will say is Mr Crosby couldnt be in every place at every time and I see from the people whining in this report that they are just bitter. Most of the names i have seen were caught at one time or another OFF THE SCRIPT and LYING to customers(which is why many of them are not there anymore) and some even accused of much worse actions. The adults who complain made a logical decision based on infornation they provided and what was told and reverified BEFORE any package was sent out. If you people want others to be responsible for their actions, by the same token, the buyers are also responsible for theirs. Federal laws allow them to cancel as well. Quit whining. If you can do it yourself....it's simple..why haven't you and why are you the one in debt paying bank rates that are raping you and your families?? Nuff Said

I'll Reserve Judgement
AUTHOR: Marilyn - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Friday, June 20, 2003
Stephanie,
If what you say is true, then you were not scamming. I will have to reserve judgment until I read the "Script". Like I said before, this is a product that could sell (maybe not at this price)as long as the customer was being informed and it was made absolutly clear that is was information they were buying.
If the script starts out as stated in this thread then I beleive it to be misleading. FACT: a person will remember the first thing said and the last thing said. Every thing else is left up to what they want to remember.

Marilyn. Are you A happy person?
AUTHOR: STEPHANIE - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Thursday, June 19, 2003
Marilyn,
I myself have worked for this company as A sales rep. It was A very pleasant experience because I was going to school part time and working part time so they were very flexible with my schedule. I am A bit appauled by some of the statements' that I have read. I know they are people are 1 person anyway that is not only miserable with themselves but miserable with those that have the unpleasant experience of being around them, are him, or her.
(Mr. Anonymous) How inmature is that. I read the script word from word. I sold an average of 4 a night. It states clearly in the script that we are offering them information on how to lower there interest rates. You have good and bad in every industry. Telemarketing is A simple way to market your product whether its selling information or selling long distance. The person who will not sign there name probaly got fired for not following the script and needs closure. 1 week before I started this part time job I was going to work at A company named Premier Savings I was there my first day and They told me that my main purpose was to get the customers credit card info and they would put some one else on the phone to take over my call. No training. They were very unprofessional and rude. I walked out 3 hours later with A very unclean feeling. The people that I sold on the phone were very responsive and of course some were skeptical. Of course people can do this on there own, but some don't. I can wash my car on my own. But I prefer to pay someone else to do that.
The bottom line is that these people that I sold owed money and paid high interest rates and wanted help. They knew that they had to call A bank of there choice and apply to that bank for A lower rate to tranfer balances. Every customer that I sold was also put on hold after I was done and A superviser would get on the phone and say to the customer that they record the conversation for company policies.
In this it is stated that we are not A bank That they are not getting A credit Card from us that they must call and apply for A lower rate and they need to follow our instructions Example: Reviewing your credit report calling to apply.
Our customer service will always be there to assist you, guide you, make you happy. Refund You whatever the case may be. I have heard and seen the superviser doing A verification and the customer states Am I guaranteed? The reply that I heard 100% everytime was (NO, We can't guarantee that you will get this lower rate because we are not the bank or A lending institution). If the customer says " I do not want it" then guess what the customer does not get it. The questions that are asked to these people are 5 basic questions so that the sales rep is calling someone that has A higher probality of needing this service.I never saw anyone twisting someones arm to buy this service.
I remember they also included computer software with there products. One more thing I have met the owner of the company and he was the one that actually interviewed me. I remember him saying to me atleast 3 times in the interview that I must stay on the script word from word and I will make sales. He also said that people have no warnings. YOU LIE GOOD BYE NO QUESTIONS ASKED..
I also noticed that when I do A search on Premier Savings in Scottsdale AZ they have 50plus complaints from actual customers. When I do A search on this company I see 1 complaint from A customer in Florida that got her money back... The others are from x employees. I am glad I did not stay at the Premier Savings job or I might turn out like these x employees. I was A part time student needing A part time job and I am thankful that these people including the owner were up front, professional and flexible. Because now I am A full time student. I am A Business Major and will always look back and be thankful that someone waas nice enough to let me work around my studies...

I'm glad to see you set the record straight.

Hello is _________ available. Hi this is ________ with consumer protection publications. I was calling concerning your visa and master card accounts. No there is no problem. I was calling to see if we could lower your interest rate down to a lower fixed rate of ten percent or less.
That is how I was taught to read the script.
The enitire script is full of misleading statements and misrepresentations of the product.
Bill I am not a disgruntled employee. I left because I wanted to. You or Greg didn't fire me. As a matter of fact I was one of your most consistent sales people averaging 20 - 25 sales a week. No I wasn't Joseph who could find 30 or more people. Of course he didn't even use the script. I have worked for a major credit card issuer, in there credit department, I have also been a finance manager at a car dealership. I understand how credit works, and quite frankly, if you think anybody is going to sit here an believe that you market this book (thats all that it is) in a forthright manner you are sadly mistaken. Bill the other things I have mentioned. You cannot lie to a bank about the use of a merchant (credit card processing) account and get away with it. Using an account setup for internet transactions, for telemarketing is bank fraud. I know that you lost your other merchant account some time ago before I even quit. Well I seem to be just repeating myself. Bill your company is a scam, fraud, etc. Your days are numbered. The national do not call list will help with that. As well new laws currently under discussion in the U.S. congress regarding telemarketing will soon make you see the writing on the wall. One more thing my job was to educate people. COME ON!!! If I had educated these people ase to how credit actually works. That many factor including you debt to income ratio, paid or paid agreed acccount. Time that their credit file has been established. These people would not have bought your B.S. book. I have also heard bill that you had to raise the price. Thats very funny. So whoever made the apology nice attempt to get this company off the hook.

I going to review what I've already said. First of all this company markets their finacial guide in a deceptive and misleading manner. The introduction itself is quite misleading. "Hello this is ___________

Truth in Telemarketing
AUTHOR: Marilyn - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Friday, June 13, 2003
Gino, no wonder you were fired. I have sold many things over the telephone but never light bulbs or trashbags. I didn't even know they were still selling those thing by telephone any more.
I have worked for many major credit card, insurance, phone, warranty, loan, and internet companies. I have worked with many people who would skirt issues or would change the subject if a customer would ask a question and the answer would be unfavorable. This is scamming, not lying. This makes a person deceitful, not a liar. Myself, I have never used these tactics. I am a excelent sales person and have always exceeded the expectations of the client.
If what Rob says is true, "Selling this book as if it is a done deal buy the book get the card with a low rate of 10% interest just select the bank you want to do business with. The opening pitch goes like this "HI this _____ with consumer protection publication I was calling concerning your visa and mc accounts." This is not necessarily a lie but totally deceiving. If the company is leading the customer to beleive that they will receive a credit card, then this is completly misleading and thus scamming. Even though no actual lie was used.
If the rep were to tell the customer that he was calling to help them find a credit card that would meet their needs by selling them this "book", that would be honest and straight forward. With the right leads, this product would sell (probably not at that price)especially if the rep took the opportuinty to educate the customer about credit cards and how they work.
If ANY part of Rob's original report is true, and I beleive there is a lot of truth to it, then this offer is deffinatly a scam.

I said,"The main reason most telemarketers are paid hourly is so they won't scam to get a sale." I never said lie. There are many ways of scamming without lying. Simply put, the way a phrase is worded can lead the person hearing it to beleive it to mean one thing, when actually it means the opposite. That is SCAMMING. This is not really lying, just being dishonest, because your words were intended to mislead.
Next time, don't project your ideas into what I wrote. That way you won't let your hidden agenda show.

A more serious response to the lady about hourly vs. commission. Wrong. Straight commission does not make people lie. People make people lie. I borrowed that line from a song. (Words are a little different). Furthermore people make the choice to lie. I don't allow it here. I terminate them if they can't present the information in the correct manner. If you are that weak minded to believe that commission will make someone lie, then that says a lot about you. I am not saying it doesn't happen. I just get rid of them. Our calls are monitored. I find that most reputable telemarketing firms pay their employees an hourly wage and not commission.
AUTHOR: Marilyn - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Saturday, June 07, 2003
I have been in telemarketing for the last 7 years. I find that most reputable telemarketing firms pay their employees an hourly wage and not commission. From both of your statements it appeares that CPP pays commision only. The main reason most telemarketers are paid hourly is so they won't scam to get a sale. Some companies offer bonuses or incentatives for meeting or exceeding goal but not staight commission.
Not to mention "GOAL" is usually not just sales but quality as well.
Rob, you were smart to get out. The way I see it your job was not to inform the customer but to confuse. Anyone who understands their credit would not need a book full of banks that issue credit cards. I see this everyday in my e-mail. "Join......and we guarantee you will be approved for a credit card. Have the banks competiting for your business". Hog Wash!
Just one final point. A "Preapproved" offer is just that. "Preapproved". The only way a preapproved offer can be declined is when the company runs your credit you have filed bankruptcy or have had a judgement entered against you or you have become seriously delinqent with all you accounts since the time they had received your name as meeting the inital criteria. The only thing running your credit is suppose to do is help the bank set your credit limit. This is why nearly all offers are sent out "Pre-selected". If your are "preapproved" it usually mean it will cost you a huge fee or its a secured card.
Just a little food for thought.

Furthermore, you also know that every person after agreeing to purchase our information (since that is all we represent it to be) is verified by someone else so that there are no misunderstandings. Some More Info for everyone. Bill No one Believes You
AUTHOR: Anonymous - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Saturday, May 31, 2003
This is the second report that I am submitting about this company. I am not a disgruntled employee as Mr. Bill Crosby would like people to think. I left this company because I couldn't sit at a computer screen and take money from elderly people or people who just don't understand how credit works. A true preapproved offer for a credit card will come to you directly from the issuing bank. These are generated by submitting a request to one of the three major credit bureaus for list of people who have a certain amount of income have atleast one paid as agreed credit account and usually an auto loan or home loan. The bank then takes this list and mails out preapproval offers. You fill out the application giving the bank your okay to pull your complete credit file. Then it has to go through final approval. The bank will usually determine your credit limit based on what your income is yearly. As well based on a mathematic formula they subtract out all your expenses that you must pay monthly, and any outstanding or usuable credit you already have. Other factors such as reported delinquencies or other negative marks (judgments, tax liens, charged off accounts not matter when, etc..)also play a key roll in determining how big a credit line you get as well what interest rate. The key verbage in this companies presentation is that "YOU ARE PRE-APPROVED TO APPLY" This covers their butt, because everyone can apply for an account. Trust me on this one point the questions that they ask you are know where near enough information for any bank to make a credit decision, especially one's supposedly offering a fixed rate of 10% or less.
Here is some more information. I know many people who look at this website don't trust the BBB but pull a report on this company from their website and just read it for yourself. Mr. Crosby why don't you address what I said in my first statement. "I have personally contacted several of these banks some do not even nor have they ever offered the rates quoted in this "finacial guide." Furthermore you are currently under investigation by the Attorney General of Arizon (you may not be aware of it) also the IRS is investigating you. Just a little hint taking 8% of a paycheck pretax. You might want to go ahead and start shredding your finacial records before the bust down the door to your home. How do I know this? They interviewed me when they started their investigation. Mr Crosby all of the banks that you list in the Finacial Guide have not given their permission to be included or for you to make any offers on their behalf.
To the person who almost got scammed. This company buys what is reffered to as "lead lists" I can tell you for sure that they have nothing in this companies cas to do with your credit report. Mostly the list are names of people who have used their credit card for a purchase over the phone or for something off of t.v.

FIRST OF ALL ROB IS STILL AN
EMPLOYEE OF MINE. HALF OF THE TIME THESE
COMPLAINTS ARE GENERATED BY DISGRUNTLED
EMPLOYEES.
WE ARE CONSISTENTLY STRIVING TO PROVIDE THE BEST POSSIBLE SERVICE TO OUR CLIENTS. HAVING BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR NEARLY 16 PLUS YEARS, THAT SHOULD SAY SOMETHING.
I HAVE LOOKED UP SEVERAL OF THESE SO-CALLED COMPLAINTS GENERATED BY INDIVIDUALS AND ODDLY ENOUGH THEY NEVER SEEM TO BE IN MY DATABASE.
BOTTOM LINE WHY DON'T YOU PRINT THIS REBUTTAL? I HAVE RESPONDED SEVERAL TIMES AND NOT ONCE HAVE YOU PRINTED THIS INFORMATION. SO WHAT'S IT GOING TO BE!!!?!?!?!?

I was contacted the other day by someone who identified themselves as my Visa/MCard Company.
They asked me a series of questions (yes or no answers) and then told me I was pre-qualified and someone would be contacting me.
Today I received a call from John Arnelli (?) saying that I qualified, blah blah blah, the fee is $397 which can be charged to my old credit card then transfered. Right. Luckily I had some common sense when he asked for my credit card number. I told him I don't carry it on me, and he asked when a better time to call was. I told him after 6pm. Since I am in marketing at a publishing company, I thought it over after I hung up. My suspicions were correct- this was a Publishing company trying to scam me out of a order. I got on the web and found this site and I am relieved that I didn't give out my info.
When he calls later I think I may tell him off.
