Like most of the entries I have been reading, I also do not remember signing up for this service. ConsumerInfo or CIC**Credit Monitoring company has been billing my bank account $9.95 2-3 per month. On one occassion I was charged $44.95.

When I called to inquire about my account I was told that I became a paid member in April 2005 and that there is a monthly payment of $9.95. Snce May I have been billed 7 times inclduing the one time of $44.95. (I am awaiting my April statement from my bank to see what charges I incurred in April) When I pointed this out to them they said they would gladly refund me two payments. TWO PAYMENTS....they owe me atleast 3 payments plus the $44.95. I refused the money because I do not want them to think that I accept that as any type of settlement. Once I recieve the statements from my bank, I will determine the amount that is owed to me, write a letter to Consumer Info and any and all Federal, State and local agencies who might be interested in there scam. I am also including all of my bank statements with ALL of there charges hightlighted.

I hope for me and all of you who are being scammed by them that you follow through with them. This company deserves to be shut down. Taking advantage of people and ripping them off is a CRIME and they should be punished.

Yet they still got charged over and over? Like me? I even sent them my cancellation email and got an apology and a refund for the two months of charges (9.95 twice) but because I only put money in that account on an as-needed basis, those charges caused overdraft charges. They refused to refund those charges so I filed a BBB report and got a reply on that BBB report the next day.

I was told to fax proof that their charges caused the overdrafts and they'd refund the total amount which was $56. The bank refused to take the charges off and when I asked them several times about Federal Regulation E that I read about on this site, they had no idea what I was talking about.

The bank was kept in the loop about all that was going on with consumerinfo/Experian and was told that the $56 was going to be refunded by Experian yet they still chose to report us to Chex Systems. What got me what the last letter I got from the bank headquarters stating that we had failed to respond to any of their requests. I also got the refund check on that day in the mail and I called Hancock Bank customer service yet again and told them I had gotten the refund check but I was upset that they had said we had failed to respond to them. Karen at Hancock Bank customer service who was not at all customer service oriented, told me that meant we hadn't paid. I told her that's not what most people take it to mean and it makes it appear that we had not been in contact at least 5 times over the course of the month it took to get it all settled.

We asked that she contact Chex Systems and get our name cleared and she refused. The bank could have refunded the overdraft charges had they so desired. I read on another complaint about Bank of America that most banks are willing to do this if the person is nice and it's their first time to overdraft. With Hancock Bank, this is NOT TRUE.

I didn't even overdraft over something that was my fault. And the amount reported by Hancock Bank to Chex Systems were OVERDRAFT CHARGES, not money I had stiffed a company out of by buying something and not having the funds to cover it. Consumerinfo charged my account for money they were not authorized to take which, in my book, is FRAUD. However, the bank doesn't see it that way. If I wanted to pay $28 to stop consumerinfo from being able to take money again, I could do that. BULL! What a bunch of crap. I see I'm lucky I got my overdraft charges refunded by Experian. What also gets me is consumerinfo is OWNED by EXPERIAN and my refund check came on Experian's checking account.

Yet these people who own a company that had a F rating with the BBB at the time I filed my report have control over our credit! How ironical and grossly unfair! I have learned alot about how banking customer service can suck really bad. I will never bank with Hancock Bank again and I will tell anyone that asks how mush they suck at customer service.

They could have easily taken the charges off my account or at THE VERY LEAST, NOT reported it to Chex Systems since they had copies of the BBB report I filed and Experian's reply that they would issue a refund check when I faxed the proof they required. Hancock Bank was notified each and every step including that the info had been faxed.

I have a VERY GOOD credit rating and I did not appreciate being treated like I don't or that I wasn't doing anything to rectify the situation. I have realized that people that live according to principles are rare and that in businesses, principles are mostly non-existent. Hnaock Bank knew their money was coming from the people it should be coming from - Experian. They were faxed the info yet completely ignored anything and everything.

I'm an employee at Consumerinfo.com, specifically, one of the lovely folks who get to talk to you guys.

What I'm going to say is my own opinion, and is not at all supported by the company I work for.

You need to read the user terms and conditions whenever you create an account. By creating the account, you agreed to the terms of the account. Yes, it may not have appeared in big bold letters, but its up to you read everything before you submit your information. For your convienance, I'll post the exact part that probably applies to you.

"Credit Monitoring Membership With Trial: The free trial is a special offer limited to first-time customers only...If you do not cancel during your trial period, your membership will continue automatically and the monthly/annual fee will be billed to the credit card or other billing source authorized by you."

And as for the 44.95, the only thing that can be from is a three bureau report plus two scores. And the only way that can be ordered in a active membership(9.95 billing) is that you do it yourself.
