Let it rip... Got ripped off big time. After coming home from work today and getting online to found out the status of my bank account balance I had a withdrawl of $79.95 from CIC Montoring Service. I was completely pissed off.

Luckily, I had enough money in my account to cover the charge but still... Who in the hell gave them the right to withdrawl funds from my debit card at any given moment without
notification.

I then remembered that I done a free credit check on line back in the year of 2001 so I pulled out the information from my files that they had mailed to me and there it was ConsumberInfo.Com. There was a letter and attached to the credit report from three different credit agencies.

Quote from letter; An annual membership includes four free credit reports each year, quarterly notification of inquiries and any potentially negative changes to your report, and the informative CreditCheck Newletter. Never received any of this. What was free?

Plus it read; when you sign up online, your first 30 days of membership are free, and we'll send you a free copy of your credit report as a welcoming gift (which I got). Nothing in the letter that was dated on May 9, 2001 mentioned an annual fee of $79.95.

I guess they didn't want to make people aware of the membership fees because they would have probably canceled their membership right away. I called my bank and canceled my debit card account and they gave me a direct number to call the company. The number is 1-877-513-4175. The number on the letter is 1-888-888-8553.

I called the number my bank gave me and disputed the fees. They are suppose to be mailing me a check for $79.95 within the next 10 days and I canceled my membership. I also confronted them with the fees they took out during the year of 2002.

They told me to fax a letter to: 1-714-385-2100, Customer Relation Group and in the letter state the dispute and they will refund that money as well. So I'm getting busy and getting back all the money that they took from me. Hope it works, if not I will be filing a class action suite against the company.
