cook's air conditioning and heating free tuneup a ripoff Ocala, Florida

Cook's Air advertised a free a/c tuneup supposedly valued at $129 if a system was over 9 years old. As I was planning on replacing mine, I took them up on the offer. The tech came out and, basically, didn't do anything beyond a few amperage and voltage checks. All he did was say how old and bad my system was and that he was afraid to clean it because he might damage something. He didn't even clean the condensate line. He quoted me a price in the $8,000 range for a new system. The system ran fine the rest of 2010 and all of 2011. It may not be as efficient as when new but I can't believe it's as bad as he said. My guess is this is how they do all "free" tuneups. I will be replacing my a/c in the next 6 or 7 months and, needless to say, will not be calling Cooks Air.
