I got scammed yesterday. A copier company called for S***, the girl that worked here before. C**** passed it off to me because I took her spot and that were doing an order confirmation for toner and faxed a confirmation and I signed it and sent it back. They had our meter reading and model number and everything. Even told me that according to our usage that we should have three on the shelf. I thought to myself, "Hmmm, I wonder where those are?" So T****, the boss, happens to see the confirmation and asks me what it was and said that I got scammed and told me that I had better fix it.
So, I called this morning and left a message because they were on the west coast and said that they took advantage of me because I was new and to cancel that order immediately. They tried to sell me a bogus toner cartridge for 529.00. They never called back so I called them back this afternoon. They said that they got the cancellation and nothing would be billed. I asked for the guy's name and he said Hugh. I asked for his extension and he said to just use his last name which is Janus. Get it? So if I call back for a Huge Anus...I don't know if they're going to try and send me anything or not. I got a good laugh and that was almost worth it. I didn't realize that with the name until I got off the phone. When I googled their name I found that I'm not the only gullible person around. When you're new at an office you just can't make assumptions like that, even when they have your copier type, meter reading (somebody else in the office must have been reporting the meter reading), and name of the previous employee.
