Opened an eCommerce account with CoreCommerce (Sum Effect Software Co.) for a set amount each month.  After some time with them, noticed there was an additional charge each month equal to nearly as much as the set charge.  Upon filling out a ticket regarding the additional charge and specifically asking how to eliminate that charge, I was told that the charge was for Hard Disk Usage and the person addressing the ticket recommended that I delete all unnecessary photos and files.  At no time in the addressing of ticket, nor when I called, was I told that any uploaded files were held on the server and would drive up the Hard Disk Usage.  There was never a mention of eliminating these files nor was I told that they were contributing to the Hard Disk Overage.

Where I thought the issue had been resolved with my following the recommendations of the employee at this company, I was instead continually charged for the Hard Disk Overage each month until I called and cancelled.  At the time I called to cancel I was given a lecture by the phone attendant on the necessity to read ALL OF THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS when signing up for sites.

Wow!!!  This is a monumental ripoff and should be avoided at all costs.  So not worth it.

While the actual complaint may be accurate, it's not the entire story.

Yes, files stored in your account are stored on the server--that is what Hard Drive space is.

This customer didn't identify themselves in this posting, so we have no idea who it really is, but I'm guessing they are on a lower-limit plan, didn't pay attention to the usage/warnings we give. We AREN'T a bunch of hard nose jerks, we DO offer promotions to people who want to pay for our service 6-12 months in advance (depending on which plan they are on), we will credit the overage fees to pre-paying, so we do try to work with them.

Overage fees for bandwidth and hard drive space are a sticky subject. It's an automated system that we can manually review daily, but we hate having to charge the overage fees, but we are charged fees from Rackspace when we go over our limits, so we are always stuck in the middle. We clearly display a real-time calculation inside your account (admin > my account) so there is never any question about where someone stands.
