I've just about had it with the sort of work I've been doing for the past 25+ years ... retailing home-improvement and remodeling products. I work for a Big Box, and their claims closely mimic some of those that were presented at my interview with Cornerstone. From curiosity, I searched "Cornerstone America" and eventually found my way to RipoffReports.com. I've read many of the posts and responses, and the only thing that's enjoyed any clarification at all is my sense that I really need to be rather circumspect before engaging in a relationship with this company.

The agent is friendly enough and seems like a good man, and his assistant also appears to be quite capable. Two small things that raise warning flags for me are:
(1) the office is in a rather nice (restored?) building, but everything seems to be in boxes ... when I call in, I seem to get the fax machine as often as not. But this is the lesser issue.
(2) 411 information has no listing for the agent (except an unlisted number) or for Cornerstone America.

Call me petty, but little stuff like that bothers me. I've bought into dog-and-pony-shows that bear resemblance to this before, and I'd rather not go through it again. $292.00 for application processing plus $150.00 for a background check ... and not an awful lot of info about how things work. Yes, I AM interested, but I know that people like me are often viewed as fish in a fish bowl ... and I don't really want to feel that hook set.

I am thinking of going to Cornerstone as well...

AUTHOR: Amber Vasco - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 13, 2007

OK - I have been in the mortgage industry for the past 5 years - I am a ripe age of 26 years old. I am ready for something new and willing to learn something completely different. I have a husband and his two sons (which are MY sons in my eyes) and I want to take good care of them. My parents were broke growing up and I want to show my boys, husband, as well as myself, the life that they never had. I just went on my interview yesterday - got laid off on Thursday from the mortgage industry and I want better things for my family. I am in NO WAY affiliated with Cornerstone - YET.

I received a phone call from Cornerstone. I was away for a bit - got a voice mail - and I checked it out. It was Maria and she basically said that she reviewed my resume off of Monster.com and wanted to speak to me. I went to Cornerstone's website, first and foremost, saw their videos of some of their employees that are making an insane amount of money. Myself, coming from a mortgage industry, there is definitely money to made there. Not in this time though.... I am not going to sit here and say that money is not all of my intrigue. I want to have good things. I am NOT one of those chicks that want the Gucci bags or anything like that. I drive a Honda....I love my car!! I wouldn't want anything else. I am looking at this as something that my family could enjoy.

They will hire you as an independent contractor. You are technically SELF EMPLOYED. A lot of people on this site forget that. They think that since they 'interviewed' that they will be an employee. You need to get out of that mind frame. You will be ONLY COMMISSION. Helllloooooo - come one people!!! How can you blame someone if you are only commission?? What - if I wanted to start my own business (which they refer to this as...) do you get a starter/training class for that?? You can't listen to everyone on this thing....this is ridiculous how many people are on here that have a negative comment....its stupid.

I plan to "dish out" the money and start my OWN business WITHIN Cornerstone. The money is for doing anything that a legitimate insurance company would do. You NEED a license, you NEED to get finger printed, you NEED to get appointed. The rest (Background check) is because Cornerstone doesn't want to get nailed when some drunk goes on a rampage that is representing their name while out meeting with a client. OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE!

I don't care how many stories there are about this place. I got a call from Statefarm, Farmers, ect. to be an independent insurance agent and they want me to train for 2 years. How boring would that be. How can you learn what is good FOR YOU if you don't dive in head first for it?? This is YOUR business. Treat it like it is and you will succeed. I am totally looking forward to it and I know that I will....I will talk to you later as I am filling out my paperwork tomorrow.

Think about it before you type and what your issues are. You need to obviously think of the reasons why YOU failed. This wasn't a doing of a company that told you that YOU would be self employed. Do what you would you do if you had your OWN company as this is to many people....
