I am posting this for a couple of reasons.  1 because I was mislead by World Market and when it was brought to their attention very little was done about it.  2. So others will not be ripped of or mislead by this company.

Cost Plus World Market has a rewards program for customers as an incentive to purchase more stuff, or so they say.  From what I have learned they do have a couple of programs, however I am only refering to one.  It is a reward program for purchasing their coffee (witch is very good coffee by the way and cost effective).  This program is supposed to work by giving you points for purchases and when you have enough points you are supposed to be rewarded with a bag of free coffee.  The way it was explained to me for every 12 oz bag you got 1 point and for every 24 oz bag you were to receive 2 points.  When you got to 6 total points you were to receive a coupon for a free 12 oz bag of coffee.   As an added bonus if you purchase your coffee on Wenesday you were supposed to receive double points, because of this I only purchased my coffee on Wenesdays.  Why not buy 3 get one free in that way.

They sign you up in the store by getting your name, telephone number (witch becomes your account number) and email address.  At this point you are told the computer will keep track and email you the free coupon once you qualify.  This is not true. It is just a ploy to add you to an email advertiser so you get blasted with junk mail.

After several months of not getting anything I asked the cashier one day about it and she just said they have been having computer problems and it should be corrected soon.  A few more months I find out that you are supposed to go online and register.  When you do that you are giving them all the EXACT SAME INFO. seems redundent but I did it as I guess it was policy.  At this point you get even more junk/spam mail, sometimes 2 a day from World Market (no big deal but I was opeing every one in hopes of my free coffee coupon).  Finally after several months I emailed the company, and I was a bit upset because I can buy good coffee anywhere but chose here because of the free coffee deal.  They said I was supposed to go online and register with in 10 days of first signing on?!?!!?!

WHAT?

So basicly it works like this.  There is no reward program.  I know of NO ONE who has received coupons for free coffee from this company, and I have turned SEVERAL people on to this great coffee (it is real good coffee).  It is nothing but a ploy in hopes that you will not notice and do nothing about it.  This company is NOT consumer friendly and they do decieve their clients.  It is not right and because of this I am writing to help other to avoid the mistakes.  Thier rewards program is fake and is nothing but a scam.  Because of this I will not be doing business with them.  Sad part is I really like their coffee and they have some nice things in there as well.  Great beer selection.

Problem is I am just one and nothing to them.  They lose me, no big deal.  It is just principal.  You do me and others wrong I do not need your company.

Rewards program...it really works if you do it right

To the last comment and complaint about the rewards program not really being a rewards program at all. It's really a great program as long as you actually use it correctly. No company can ever help someone who doesn't read or follow directions. The program is exactly how you spelled it out, you get a free coffee for every 6 you buy. When you sign up in store you get an immediate email saying " you signed up, now you must complete your information to start receiving rewards"...obviously that was your first mistake..you didn't read that. All you do is fill out the same info you gave at the store and your coffee rewards, and any other purchases you made automatically update in the system. Then, everytime you have a coupond, or reward (such as your free coffee) you go to worldmarketexplorer.com and simply click "free coffee reward" and bam, boom, shabang....your coupon awaits. This is no scam to get your information. There are a lot of emails, but you can choose how many you get in a day, and if you want to get them at all (you would have known that if you read the website you finished registering at). What it comes down to is...if you read, and follow the directions...you're free coffee awaits.

Some one from World Market wrote me back and explained how the points also expire just as any reward coupons will expire if not used.  I do not understand, the money I gave them never expired.  My loyalty to them never expired.  So IF they were to give me anything I would have to use it in their time slot, not what is convenient for me.

This company really goes against anything customer service positive.
