A few months ago, I callled Countrywide while searching for a new home loan. They were advertising no cost, no fee loans repeatedly on television.

The very first person I spoke to said, "I wish they'd stop saying that" in response to my request for the "no cost, no fee loan." "Those don't really exist" according to the person answering the phone, and that ended our business together.

Every time I hear the commercials now, I get really angry that they're advertising something they don't have in the hopes of gaining customers.

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds

countrywide no closing cost campaign

AUTHOR: Sticks1680 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 21, 2007

I am an ex employee still in the mortgage business. Their campaign is true. It is for refi. However there is always the fine print to any offer. To get this option you will be paying a higher rate as everyone is entitled to make money. Also, the closing cost part only applies to their fees. You will still pay title fees and other 3rd party fees...appraisal etc. just a heads up. it is merely a way to generate more interest in their company which as a lender for a mortgage i highly recommend. I use them as a broker and ran my parents refi through them. they are a respectable company. yes there are a few unintelligent loan officers there. but they are everywhere. lol

#1 Consumer Comment

Thats for a refi

The no closing cost loan is for a refinance not a New loan. The agent you spoke to obviously didnt have a clue. I have no affiliation to Countrywide except they carry my home loan. I have never seen a new home loan without some fees and closing cost. If you dont have money to put down I suggest getting a good agent that can negotiate the closing cost to be paid by the seller not you that will ebe about the only loan you find with no fees.
