I saw a used car online and sent a message to the dealership saying I was interersted. Within 15 mintues one of the salesmen called me back, tried to make that sickning small talk with me telling me he knows people where I live, like I care.

The car was 15,000 and I told him I needed payments for UNDER $400 a month. He said 'no problem, I can even get you on a great warranty for well under $400'. We hung up, this was a early Saturday, I never heard anything back from him the rest of the day, Sunday or even Monday. Now, I was over 300 miles away from the dealership and willing to drive and get the car, it was a sure deal on my side, I thought he would be more on top of it.

Finally I called him that Tuesday, he said 'been so busy, I need you to fax over your w-2's'. At this point I'm thinking yeah right this guys an idiot. But I faxed over mine and my husbands that night.

Days went by. I kept calling over and over and leaving messages over and over. Finally he would call me back and I heard the same thing for days 'ahhh, just waiting on the bank'. I said okay but PLEASE call me back tonight and let me know the status, he never did.

This went on for two weeks! If I'm not approved then just say no, what's the hold up? I finally had it and called the manager. This guy was just as much of an idiot as the sales guy. All I had to do was mention my name and he already knew my situation. I told him I needed to know what was going on, he said he would look into it and PROMISED he would call me back that day. NEVER did.

Finally, middle of the third week of this crap, I had it and wrote an e-mail to the internet sales manager, she promised me that the sales man would call me back before the end of the day. About 1pm my phone rings it's sales guys, he tells me I have been declined. I actually felt better, I was bummed out about the car, but at least I didn't have to deal with these people ever again. Well, about 1:30pm the same day he calls me back! 'Ummm, I think if you fax over your pay stub we can give it another try.' I'm thinking what the hell is going on here? I'm a pain in the butt customer, called your manager on you and bother you everyday wondering my status, why do you want to keep working with me what is going on here?

Stupidly, I fax everything over. After not hearing from him I call, he said that I HAVE been approved!! He asked when we can come in, I told him the following Saturday about noon, he said to bring JUST what I had faxed over with me and he tell the finance manager we'd be there. Plus, during the week a girl from the dealership said she was calling to let me know everything was approved and the car was ours!

After driving six hours in a snow storm we reach the dealership. We walk in, tell them we are looking for our sales man. They are looking everywhere for him. Turns out he wasn't even there! He had a wedding to go to at the last mintue!?! What is this?!? After NO ONE talking to us and waiting two hours the finance manger finally came over.

I work at a resort in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, I've been there three years. Every October everyone gets laid off, collects unemployment, and goes back in May. My husband is a carpenter, been doing that for OVER 12 years, gets laid off in December, collects unemployment, and goes back in May. That's just how it is. Well, after trying to explain this, they said that we would be looking at a high interest rate because they DO NOT consider us having jobs since we are not working right this second. And they don't consider unemployment a form of income. Payments would have been $656 a month, we would have ended up paying $30,000 for a $15,000 car. Why weren't they up front!!!!

Bottom line no Ripoff

Bottom line after the financial crisis it is much harder sometimes impossible to obtain financing for clients financing may not be available at all period. We try every angle we know sometimes this takes weeks. This makes the job of selling cars take three times as long as it did years prior to do the same thing stressing everyone in the dealership the repercussions of the financial crisis are far reaching and long.

Courtesy Ford the dealership doesnt finance loan money to buy cars if a bank wont loan money when you are laid off there isnt much we can do about that. This problem may be compounded when a customer has bad credit or hasnt ever paid for anything much less on time as agreed per the contract they signed and gave there word they would repay.

As for interest rate we have no control over that either but ask yourself this if you were to loan money to someone that had never paid you back in the past what rate would you charge?

The quick answer may be zero because you wouldnt loan them money at all so at that point 20% doesnt sound so bad. Im sorry that as this customer stated we are all stupid.

But you have to ask yourself after reading the customers statement a few questions the customer makes no mention of?  #1Why would someone drive 300 miles to buy a car and pass hundreds of other dealerships on the way even dealerships that may be 4 or 5 miles from home?  #2How did this customer get in contact with Courtesy Ford in the first place be three hundred miles away? Easy we had the best price on the car by thousands For hundreds of miles and were able to get financing although not at the best term it was better than a complete no way in hell.

If you dont believe we have the lowest price shop any one of our cars and you will see that our prices are always lower. If being cheaper on the same car than anyone within Three hundred miles makes you a bad dealer than we are guilty as charged. So if ya have ok to good credit or at least realistic expectations check us out for your self you wont be sorry.
