I went to Cox Chevrolet located on Cortez Road in Bradenton, FL.   I had gone there because I received a recall notice for my 2005 Chevy Malibu; three parts needed to be replaced.   I called Cox Chevrolet and made an appointment (March 25, 2015) to bring my car to have the recall parts replaced.   While waiting for the service I used my windshield wiper to wash something that was on my winshield and turned them off when the customer service representative approached me.   I gave them my keys it took 3 hours for them to replace the parts, I was given my keys and I left the establishment.  Prior to getting home I decided to wash the car and when I went to use my windshield wipers they were not working at all.   I called Cox Chevrolet and told them that when I took the car in on 3/25 my winshield wipers were working, after they serviced my vehicle the wipers are no longer working.

Cox Chevrolet ask me to bring the vehicle back on 3/27 and the without reviewing the possible cause of the wipers not operating they decided that a diagnostic test was necessary.  I agreed to the diagnostic test relying on Cox Chevrolet mechanics being ASE Certified mechanics and competent at what they did.  After waiting 20 minutes that service advisor returns and tells me that the motor to the windshield wipers had cease working and needed to be replaced at a tune of $604.00.   I was shocked and could not believe that on 3/25 when I brought the car into Cox Chevrolet the wipers were working fine, in fact, they are brand new wipers and were operable.    I decided to pay the fee of $122.00 for the diagnostic test and decline on any further repairs.

I took my car three days later to another mechanic to find out what was wrong with the wipers and to see if they would agree with Cox Chevrolet's diagnostic results.   Well, the first thing the mechanic did was open the hood, open the fuse box and noticed that there was fuse loosely placed inside the fuse box.  He reviewed the fuse and replaced it where it belonged.  He asked me to turn on the car and try to turn on the wipers.   Well, to my amasement, they were working.   Cox Chevrolet mechanics had took out the fuse to the wipers, why I am not sure, and left it loose inside the fuse box.  If in fact Cox Chevrolet mechanics were competent ASE Certified mechancis they would have proceeded directly to the fuse box where the mechanic who worked on my car had taken out the fuse and I would have not have been charged to have a diagnostic test performed.   It took my mechanic a second to replace the fuse and my wipers to begin working.

I believe Cox Chevrolet uses Recalls to deceive and manipulate customers to get work done that they themselves have caused.   My wipers were working and after I left Cox Chevrolet they were not.  A mechanic who is ASE Certified is honest and will not attempt to deceive a customer by taking out the wiper fuse, leaving it loosely inside the fuse box and attempt to tell the customer that they need to replace the motor (which is at a cost of $600) because it is no longer working.   If they were in fact honest and competent mechanics they would remembered that they themselves disconnected the fuse that operated the wipers and replaced it and I would have never had to pay for a diagnostic test that was in fact, unnecessary and deceitfully diagnosed.   I have put several calls to Cox Chevrolet but they do not want to take my calls.

A representative of Chevrolet called me and continuously told me that the car needed to be diagnosed in order to find out what was wrong.   Even after I told her that my mechanic open the hood, open the fuse box and noticed the loose wiper fuse in the fuse box, which mechanics at Cox Chevrolet had deceitfully taken out in order to tell me that the windshield wiper's motor needed to be replaced.   Recall did not cost me a thing, but Cox Chevrolet wanted to find a way for me to pay for the time in took to replace the recall parts.   They purposedly removed the wiper fuse, manipulated me to have a diagnostic test knowing beforehand that they were the cause of my wipers not working.   Cox Chevrolet are deceitful, dishonest, fraudulent, and incompetent and I would tell all customers to be aware of the ripoff scam.   Cox Chevrolet uses Recalls to deceive customers into repairs that they do not need or purposedly remove parts in order to have the customer pay for unnecessary repairs.
