I had an FCNB credit card quite some years ago. When they went bankrupt, I was never notified of this nor was I ever notified by phone or letter that my account had been purchased by a debt collector.

Suddenly I was recieving statements that were listing outrageous overlimit fees, late fees etc. When I called FCNB to find out what was going on, I was answered by Platinum Recovery Systems, the rudest bunch of people I've ever encountered.

Rather than being treated like a customer, I was suddenly being treated like a delinquent debtor who'd lost any rights to "customer service". Since Plantinum has taken over, I have been assessed somewhere between $1500-$2000 in fees which has driven my account balance to be twice what the allowed limit was. On my statements, the due date is never reflected, it only says "due immediately". My minimum monthly payment due is 90% of my total balance due, but when I talk to Platinum, they tell me that my minimum monthly payment is $70, despite what my statement says. They have changed my minumum monthly payment no less than 5 times and have not notified my via phone or statement.

They tell me I can go online to view my statement and make payments. They direct me to cardmemberservices.com which reflects a different balance and says I have no payment due.

The inconsistencies and mind-boggling to me. I cannot be responsible for my debt if they are not clearly communicating with me. It's an absolute joke! I asked them on one phone call if there was any way I could settle with them because at this point it's like trying to spit on a forest fire. The unbelievably rude representative refused, said the full balance was the only settlement they would discuss.

WHAT IS GOING ON???? This cannot be legal??? So now I owe nearly $3,000 on a card that had a $1,500 limit that was being paid on monthly and was well under the limit at the time of FCNB's bankruptcy. I cannot find ANY information on Platinum Recovery Systems in terms of who they are, they have not and will not detail their role in all of this to me, they just maintain that they are to be treated as FCNB. I don't even know if this company is real? I can't find anything anywhere.

I have started ignoring them because they are so nasty and rude that the phone calls aren't worth the mood they leave me in. I have been paying them between $100 - $150 a month for the past year or so and still my balancen continues to go UP every month and the account is just getting bigger and bigger!!

I don't know what to do???? I don't want to completely ignore them and stop payment for fear that they will try to sue me which is what I've been hearing is happening to a lot of people! Can anyone tell me how to navigate this? Does anyone know of Platinum Recovery Systems??

Distressed to no end!
