I was asked by my girlfriend to pay a bill that she had received from Credit Collection Services (CCS)I paid the bill and the funds were withdrawn from my account on March 16, 2004. At this point I thought the matter was done with but the next month she recieves another notice.
So I called them and they said it was paid and I asked them to send a paid in full letter to her which they did. Then the next month they sent another notice.I called them and they said disregard but now it is mid october and she just recieved another notice today.
She depends on me to take care of this for her because her tty is no longer working and she has no internet access. I just want them to stop sending these notices. If any further info needed plz contact me. Thanks

OK, BE SURE THAT THE FILE NUMBERS ARE THE SAME ON THE NEW NOTICE,AS THE ORIGINAL. SOMETIMES CCS MAY GET A DUPLICATE FILES WITH DIFFERENT FILE NUMBERS, IF THIS IS THIS CASE A CCS REPRESENTATIVE CAN HAVE THAT REVIEWED BY A SUPER- VISOR FOR AND ADJUSTMENT.
A CIESE AND DESIST LETTER ISN'T GOING TO NECESSARILY RESOLVE THIS ISSUE, YOUR FILE MAY REMAIN IN COLLECTIONS AND, IN THE WORST CASE SCENARIO, GET REPORTED ON TO YOUR CREDIT RPORT.
CCS HAS MANY CLIENTS, MAKE SURE THAT THE NOTICE IS FROM COX COMMUNICATIONS, AND NOT ANOTHER CREDITOR.
MAKE SURE THAT THE DATES OF SERVICE ARE THE SAME.
FINALLY, MAKE SURE THAT THE CHECK CLEARED, A CHECK CAN COME BACK NSF (INSUFFICIENT FUNDS) UP TO 21 DAYS AFTER IT HAS ALREAY POSTED TO THE ACCOUNT, FOR SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS ENTERING IN THE WRONG CHECKING ACCOUNT INFORMATION.
CCS EMPLOYEES ARE THERE TO ASSIST YOU IN RESOLVING YOUR ACCOUNT(S) NOT TO HARRASS YOU, AND EVERYTHING IS DONE UNDER THE GUIDELINES OF THE FDCPA..

Adam, the best thing to do is send a "Cease and Desist" letter, and make certain you send it certified. Include a photocopy of the paid in full letter you received from them, and instruct the agency in the letter to properly update the credit file immediately. The letter doesn't have to be a novel..just a paragraph stating the bill is paid, here is the proof, and you are hereby instructed to update your files, the credit report, and cease contact with you regarding this debt immediately. Hope this helps!
