Crown Bolt Cheap screws sold at Home Depot Aliso Viejo California

I am writing to exercise my frustration with an ultra cheap product I bought at Home Depot. I am building a project and am in the final stages of it. I went to Home Depot to get all my supplies ahead of time since I live about 30 miles away from them and did not want to make multiple trips. Since I had most of the screws I would need already from past projects I only needed to buy one box. They are 100 count box #10 X 1" flathead screws, manufacturer Crown Bolt. Feeling pretty good about how it's going.

Then I break open the box and begin to screw one in. Immediately, and I mean immediately it strips out. It even stripped out when I tried to back it out again so I had to use a pair of pliers to remove it. I get another and begin to screw it in. Again at the FIRST HINT hint of resistance from the wood the screw strips out. And again I have to use pliers to remove it. So my not inexpensive box of screws are pure junk and I have to drive to another hardware store 30 miles away just to get the 8 screws that I need to finish my project. I've no doubt but that Crown Bolt is well aware of their crappy product. They should be embarrassed to put their name on it IMO.

As a side note, I see where they also sell tiny packages of their garbage for inflated prices. Packages of 4 screws for what you can by 50 for at another hardware store.

It's no wonder people don't have great confidence in American made products.
