THIS IS MY EXPERIENCE...BEWARE OF BIG CAR COMPANIES, INCLUDING CROWN MOTORS!!!!
Redding Crown Motors mechanic left a bolt inside my Honda Prelude compartment after a complete timing belt and water pump change.Cause failure to car. On Tuesday 8-10-12 I had my 97 Honda water pump and timing belt replace at Redding Crown Motors.Cost $881.17. On Wednesday 4-18-12,while driving to Sacramento,ca for a family visit my vehicle stop running in the middle of the road.We push the car to a nearby car shop(Sav Auto Shop)and let them perform a diagnostic on it.The next day Sav Auto shop call us and inform us that the timing belt had been grinding up to the point where my car could not crank over. The main cause was a bolt that had been wedge behind the crank sensor. The bolt was grinding against the timing belt and that was the main cause of failure.I has Sav Auto Sop replace a new Duralast timing belt. Total repair for that was $280. Sav Auto Shop took some pictures to show me and they save the bolt and timing belt(#155YU24)for my record. Sav Auto Shop gave me my receipt and wrote a statement of what they had found.

On Thursday 4-19-12 I notify Crown Motors by phone about the situation and talk to Louis Scalera. Louis Scalera told me that when I get back to Redding that they will handle it. I return to Redding and on Saturday 4-21-12 I spoke to one of the employee in the service desk and he told me to come back on Tuesday to talk to Scott Roberts who is the General Manager. On Tuesday 4-24-12, I went to talk to Steve Roberts(General Manager) and Scott Frandsen(Service Manager). After a non negiotable decision they told me that they will call me back about the situation. On Wednesday 4-25-12 Scott Frandsen the Service manager inspected my car with Jesse W. who was the mechanic at the time, that had worked on my Honda in late 2010 for the water pump and timing belt replacement. The inspection did not turn out anything useful. On Monday 4-30-12, I set up an appointment with Eds Honda due to noise and vibration in my car. I was concern if there had been any furthur damage due to the bolt grinding up against my timing belt. Ed did a valve and timing adjustment. While working on my car, Ed notice there was a back cover timing bolt(inside)along with two lower timing cover bolt(outside) was missing. Ed replace the three bolts. Total repair for adjustments $198.64. Ed gave me my receipt and wrote a statement of what he had found.

DUE TO MY EXPERIENCE I AM NOW VERY CAUTIOUS ABOUT CAR DEALERSHIPS.JUST BECAUSE THEY SEEM TO BIG A BIG COMPANY, YOU OFTEN TIME THINK THAT THE QUALITY OF THEIR WORK IS HIGH QUALITY...I NOW KNOW THAT THAT IS NOT TRUE AT ALL!!!

Before I change my water pump and timing belt I was hestitat on getting it done, beacause my car drove like a champ. I was also debating if I should get it done at a Honda Dealership or a independently own shop. I though that if I took it to a Honda Dealership, later on if I was planning on selling my car then the buyer would see I had it service done there and the value of my car would go up... I made the worst mistake in my life by choosing CROWN MOTORS in Redding. I paid $880 to expect a good quality work and instead I almost got into a wreck. When my car died, Thank God we were taking a small road in Sacramento instead of on the busy intersection. God was watching over us that night.

Mr. Lee updating my previous respond

AUTHOR: Mr.Lee - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, May 13, 2012

The date that I got my timing belt and water pump done at Crown Motors in Redding was on 8-10-2010 instead of 2012. I was soo furious that I type it in so fast.
