I purchased a building from crown and have sent them two payments, first payment to lock in price then another for upgrades to contract , at first the shop was a 30x43 with 1 door and standard foundation then once land was cleared went with a 30x60 shop with roll up doors on each end, once i received prints from crown on shop and upgraded foundation i hired a firm to help me get building permit since I am not on Island full time(Hawaii) building my retirement home there, the firm helped mr file for permit and was turned down since the structural calculations that they sent me where not stamped in hawaii, when I first ordered shop they said that i would have no problems getting permit in Hawaii for shop since they sell alot of them there, The Hawaiian Building Department said that the manufacture needs to supply a Hawaiian Stamp on calulations since they designed the prefab building, Crown was contacted and they at first refused but on contract it was written that i could cancel if shop could not be built and get money back, they said that if I pay them 1500.00 dollars more to them they will get there prints stamped in hawaii so myself and others could get shop permitted, I don't know why I have to pay for them to be able sell and do business there when they knew where it was being built from the beginning

We referred Customer to a Local Engineer

AUTHOR: scott - (United States)

POSTED: Friday, March 23, 2018

Mr Hawes bought a steel building kit from us.  We are simply supplying materials.  Nowhere on his contract with us does it say we are obtaining a permit for him or supplying him with a Hawaii Engineer Stamp.   Mr. Hawes contacted us after he bought the building and  said that his Architect needed a Local Hawaii engineer to design his foundation and stamp his drawings.  We made many phone calls and found him a local Hawaii engineer.

We never charged him 1500$ or any money.  We put him in contact with the engineer to deal directly with him. The Engineer told us he would charge $1000 to design the foundation and stamp the drawings for Mr. Hawes. We told MR. Hawes that this was a very fair price as some of the other Engineers we called for him were 1500$ to 2000$. The Engineer required some drawings and calculations from us which we sent at no charge.
