I recently purchased a new Highlander from Crown Toyota of Ontario. When I purchased the car I asked for the standard 7-day option to finance through my credit union. I went to my credit union and althouh I have a perfect payment history on all of the open accounts listed on my credit report they could not offer me a better rate than the 12.5% rate toyota gave me.

The next day ( five days after signing the contract)I contacted Crown Toyota and advised them that I was going to go with their financing. They said that was fine and that I should receive my payment book as well as my lender information within two weeks.

Two weeks later I got a call from a Mr. Joe Vickers (previously mentioned by another consumer on this site.) He said that my financing had not through and that I had to bring in a down payment of $1000.00 or give the car back. I was furious. I told him that he was way past the recision date on my contract.He then proceded to tell me that he had three witnesses that heard me say I had pre-approval from my credit union. (of course the witnesses are all employees of the dealership ie the salesman, the Manager, himself etc.)

I told him that he himself, as well as the general manager, both indicated to me that my credit history was very good. He then said that on paper I was days away from bankruptsy! This in itself is ridiculous. He said that if I did not bring in the thousand dollars they would repo the car and put it on my credit. I was horrified.

I asked to speak to the GM and was told that he was at a funeral. I was then passed to a Customer Service Manager (also the same as in the other woman's nightmare, who was also very condesending and rude. I talked with my husband and he said that as long as they would show that $1000.00 was applied to my balance on a new contract that we should make the down payment other than have the problems that would result from taking them to court.

I got a new contract and it has been twelve days with no word from Crown Toyota. I placed a call tonight and the "special finance manager" said that there should be no problems and that she would call me with a status on my funding. I asked her what the hold up was and she said she did not know but would look into it. Then she confirmed that the lender Joe Vickers had assigned me to was none other than Long Beach Acceptance Corp. (also celebrities on this sight).

I was worried about getting the financing of my vehicle completed. now I am worried about the alleged unscrupulous practices of the lender that was supposedly assigned to me.

Also what happens if I get another phone call saying this funding fell through? You were so helpful to the other lady that contacted you about this same dealership. Any information you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

1986 toyota cressida

I know this is too late to discuss this but in 1986 we bought a toyota cressida very stylish for the time. At the time they were in upland where the mountain chevrolet is now. well through out the years of taking it in for repairs and problems, they treated us like dirt didn't fix the things they were suppose to fix.

the biggest most foul problem we learn about after we realized what scum they were, when they were fixing the car the screwed up the hood and then changed it never telling us this happend we found out when the paint started to peel and our local bodyshop said there was green paint under the car color. this rip-off has been happening since day one i don't know why anyone important would want to attach there name to it.

I The Great Thorn must tell you that I am sorry as to how this Toyota dealer treated you. It just bends my soul over knowing how much pain car dealers run car buyers through.

If you would like to get even if you will, with this bad deceptive car dealer, try this on for size. It will fit VERY GOOD my fellow american, so go for it.

This will Dip the owner of this deceptive dealer's steak in hot motor oil.

The Very First Thing I would do is contact Toyota Motor corp and Fax them a copy of your Rip Off Report. This is a way to inform Toyota that they have a dirty car dealer that has made the Rip Off Report. It is Very important that the car dealer and Toyota Motor Corp both know that they have made the Rip Off Report.

Number 2. I feel that you should also inform your state Banking commision of how this car dealer treats consumers. This will stick the F & I manager's pen in the mud real fast. Here is your state's banking commision contact info.

Number 3. Last but not least. You need to inform Other Toyota dealerships in your area how you were treated. This will also provide a GREAT FREE CLOSING TOOL for all of the other Toyota car dealers in your area.

Doing this step, will give all of the other Toyota dealers what one would call a " Brew Ha ha" It will cost you maybe 2 or 3 bucks, But it will help you GO DEEP. Trust me, to get even with a deceptive car dealer, you have to go DEEP.

I submitted a complaint about Crown Toyota and Joe Vickers also, your complaint refers to my rip off report.

I would be more than happy to share my experience with the author of this report. I may be able to offer insight on how to deal with the players involved considering my prior experience and relative success.

One suggestion I have that you should check into is reporting Crown Toyota to the FTC for fraud.
