After doing an "audition" for CSB..(later I found out everyone makes it) I decided to give CSB my hard earned $11,000 because I was led to believe that there was a very high placement rate for their graduates.

The classes are very boring. They were taught by some over the hill morning show duo who had ego's as big as the enrollment fee.

No textbooks, just photocopies, that are so hard to read, you will be getting a magnifying glass out. Then after you can read them, you certainly cannot understand them because unless you are a "techie" it looks like Chinese.

The administrators have "meetings" all day, meaning they get together for long lunches. And don't you DARE disturb them. They are BUSY!

One of the administrators literally just plays on the computer all day and if you ask for help, you get rolled eyes and you feel like you are bothering him.

Once I asked the main guy in charge for help and he inadvertendtly said his job was to get new recruits and he was busy doing that, he didn't have time to help me.

The only job you will get is that of an "INTERN" meaning no pay. INTERNSHIPS over and over and over and be glad if you even get that.

Waste of money. TOTAL waste of money. You are better off just studying through the internet or at the library.

Out of my class of about 15 students that was over a year ago...not ONE of them have a job....there are just a few INTERNS. The only people that make money is CSB and there tired, old, instructors.

If I can save ONE person their $11,000, then I feel like I have really done something. Please do not waste your time and money on this school, it's a true farce.

Tisk Tisk Tisk

AUTHOR: Hector - ()

POSTED: Thursday, December 12, 2013

I've known quite a few people who have not only graduated but are currently working in the market at Radio Stations. Yes you must start as an unpaid intern but that is the same thing you'd have to do if you wernt to USF, FSU, HCC, Or UF for a Broadcast Communications degree. All the instructors there are in the business now and are currently working. I'd rather have someone who did or does work in the industry than some dusty old professer who had never worked in that industry. And I'd rather learn hands on then from some text book. You must not have been a good student cause not everyone is cut out for this industry.

I agree

AUTHOR: Jane - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, December 05, 2009

To Jane Doe from Gotha and Annoyed from Tampa- I agree with you 100%! I am a victim of the Orlando campus as well. No help at all from them, when I graduated I said I wanted to start a family before I had a career and then they were done with me. I now have a beautiful little girl who is the joy of my life and I wouldn't trade her for anything in the world. Anyway, I also got the photocopies, boring classes, etc. The Acting class was a joke, we sat in our chairs in a circle and took turns reading a few lines from the handout. That was our Acting class, I kid you not. We had a few good instructors but even they could not really help given the short time period and poor material they were given.

I wish CSB had gone bankrupt and closed their doors forever. But they will survive and continue to rip off unsuspecting people who have stars in their eyes (like I did).

Annoyed

AUTHOR: Annoyed and Bullshitted - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 25, 2009

I attended CSB, that was before the bankruptcy.....back in 07. Since graduation, I never received my grades for "completing the course". I had bullshyt instructors......former students and people who made a few commercials in their "hay day".........but no legitimate instructors or certified teachers. Every time a problem arose, you would ask for help and the response was....."figure it out, its always one stupid button", forget about you completely or get mad cause you asked for help. That's not teaching or instructing of any kind in my book. Speaking of books......we never got those either........we got printed up photocopied sheets that were barely legible to put in a binder. Before attending the school, the head honcho of the company, who was at the campus at the time told me to my face, "that the school had an 86.6% placement rating of all graduates that had attended the school". Really????????? wow is that why the tuition is so expensive?????? His response was, "You will receive an education here like no other school".........

Well....... You're right .........I got some education in being bullshytted with lies.....as a matter of fact, another former student that I keep in touch with put it best when he described the school as "SMOKE AND MIRRORS" .......At an actual school, you are taught and instructed with actual teachers with teaching degrees, not former students lookin for a break in the business. After "graduating", I was given printed up craigslist advertisements as suppossed "job referrals" that turned out to be bullshyt leads, and when I asked if they had any contacts.......I was told and I quote "If you're looking for a decent job, you should consider moving out of state, you'll be able to find a job in a smaller market, then someplace like here". If I would have known that that was their attitude, combined with the fact that they had no contacts or legitimate job leads, I wouldn't have wasted my time or money.

It's now August of '09 and to this day never received a certificate from this place, never received my grades, and not once did I come across a decent job lead........from the school or on my own. I've made attempts to contact local radio/tv stations in my area and they don't even recognize CSB as a school. After my troubling situation, and all the aggravation that went along with it, I contacted Florida Board of Education and explained my situation to them and their response was "what they did was immoral, not illegal". Well how is this not illegal.........The school taught me nothing. Their equipment was old and for most of the time "broke", they tell you that you'd be a "student for life", and then after verbal and written brochures of job placement assistance, produce nothing nada zip zippo squat......shall I go on?????? Out of about 30 students in my class, 4 or 5 people got jobs, mostly the girls because the degenerate pigs that taught at this location thought they would "get lucky" if they impressed the pretty girl with big b***s a nice job. ....... I feel ripped off, I was ripped off, and now I have a Sallie Mae loan that I'm in collections for because I'm out of work and can't find a job, So now I'm screwed. For the people that got great jobs and love the field because of the school, you were at the right place at the right time, but as for most of us out there that went to this SHYT school, we got screwed........plain and simple.........It's definitely a fraud........waste of time and money.........you're better off going to FSU or a real college.....

The campus that I'm talking about is the Tampa campus......the same location that was on Bay News 9, the same location of the student that was given a scholarship for from President Obama, only to find out that the school closed its doors, they day he made the appointment to "tour" for his audition.

you are not OWED a job

AUTHOR: Cat - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 30, 2008

You are not owed a job, finding that is up to you. I went to a 4 yr college, which I paid for all of it myself by working two jobs, had two major surgeries during that time and graduated on time with my class. I found a position in my field in apx 6 months after I graduated, but I spent long hours searching and finding that job. You are not guaranteed a carreer, that part is up to you. It does not just fall in your lap. Life is what you make it and it is called HARD WORK. Don't wait for someone to come to you, it is up to YOU to go to THEM.

use the tools!

AUTHOR: Nos - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 30, 2008

I am a proud graduate of CSB Orlando. I have experienced nothing but the best treatment and cooperation from ALL instructors who INDEED DO work for local media.
There seems to always have to be a complainer in a bunch. Someone who expects everything to be handed to them WILL NOT accomplish much in life and who would want to work with someone like that in a production environment anyways?
I have graduated in July and already have made numerous connections in both radio and television. I have started my own talk show and have sponsors. All this done in under a year utilizing the tools CSB Orlando gave me. Noone handed me anything but my diploma, I took advantage of what they offered and have moved SO fast in this business already that I may be ahead of myself, which is NOT a bad thing.
Look, stick to your dreams and use the tools. I know of NO schools that hand you a job when you are done. Thank you CSB, you've done what I expected and I am happy.

Give them another try

AUTHOR: Ptg1221 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 30, 2008

Hi. I'm a graduate of CSB in Orlando--I finished up Phase 1 in July 2008, and I've been in Phase 2, practicing and working on independent projects on campus since then. I just want to say that I think if you finished Phase 1, then you still have a relationship with the school, and you owe it to yourself to get in touch with them again and talk to them about your concern and grievances. My experience with CSB since graduation has been positive: I've been there just about every week to polish the skills I learned during Phase 1, and there hasn't been a day that I've been there and I've had a question that the director or the campus coordinator has not been able to take the time to answer.

Another no talent individual blaming everyone else for their failures!

AUTHOR: Csb Graduate - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, December 18, 2008

Being a graduate of the CSB School of Broadcasting and having a very succesful career in the broadcasting industry, I can tell you first hand how ridiculous this complaint is!

This individual represents that select group who believe the world, or in this case, the school is responsible for giving them a career. Here's a news flash....... The only person responsible for getting you a career is yourself!!! Deal with it and move on!!!! I graduated with 18 other individuals, all of whom are currently employed in the industry. Hmmmm.. Maybe it's not the school but ones desire to succeed that makes the difference!
