Cunningham Buick GMC installed 8 injectors, 4 of which were the wrong ones for our truck. Springfield Tennessee
In March of 2012 we purchased a 2010 GMC Sierra 3500 HD Dually Truck for our steradiy growing Equine Transport Business. The truck had 66,000 miles on it but was in very good condition and sold as Certified PreOwned. We performed all the regular matinence required by Gm at the required times. Everything by the book.
At 177,166 miles, on June 25, 2013 while on the interstate in Tn. the vehicle went into Limp Mode with no warning. We were perplexed! We used the Onstar Button and performed a diagnostic. I checked the gauges, which I do throughout the day to make sure everything was working properly and filter life was as it should be. The Fuel Filter life was at 0%, it had been at 85% that morning. Onstar said there was a problem with the Fuel Delivery System. We went to the closest GM dealership with 4 horses and 2 children in tow. We arrived at Cunningham GMC in Springfield Tn. At 181,000 miles, July 8, 2013 my husband brought the truck to his place of business, Gainesville Chevrolet to have the vehicle looked over before we set out again on the next long trip. His technician promptly found the pressure at the fuel pump was not within specs. He then found a TSB for other vehicles similar to ours for a kinked fuel line. Sure enough, the fuel line was kinked almost to the point that no fuel could get through. So we performed THIS repair at our expense, $133. We were informed that the kinked fuel line could have been the cause of the original problem in Springfield, Tn. That we may have not needed injectors in the first place, had the mechanic at Cunningham GMC run all the proper diagnostic testing. So now it has been almost $6000 in repairs on a 2010 “DIESEL” vehicle with only 181,000 miles.
At 185,641 miles (07/24/2013) we get to Lincoln, Ne, the truck is in limp mode again!! The clean Exhaust Filter light is on. Keep in mind, the vehicle is equipped with a DPF filter, it cleans itself automatically. It is after business hours so we park at a hotel for the night. The next morning, July 25, 2013, we take the vehicle to Husker Auto Group in Lincoln, Ne. After a diagnosis they tell me injector #4 has failed. When they take the injector out, they find that the Nemacode (the code on the injector) for the injector was not programmed correctly to our truck when originally installed. NO WAY! UNBELIVEABLE. But wait, they were just replaced in Springfield, Tn. 27 days ago, they are still under warranty. Great they will replace it at no cost to us, WRONG. Cunningham GMC informs us, the warranty is only good if we have the repairs done at their dealership because they are remanufactured. This was not told to us before. GM warranty is good at any GM dealership as per the 12/ 12,000 warranty. They agree to send and pay for the replacement injector, we pay for the labor. Cunningham agrees to reimburse us for the labor if they get the injector back and deem it bad. Why must I trust Cunningham GMC to tell me that 7 out of 8 injectors fail at once, when they can’t even believe it, but Cunningham GMC will not believe another ASE GM Certified mechanic to say 1 injector is bad? Why must I provide the burden of proof? Well, my burden of proof is the fact that I am paying top dollar at a Certified GM dealership. That is not good enough though. So 2 days and $520 later we are back on the road, or so we thought.
We continue to experience the same problem with the truck 250 miles later and are forced to leave our horse trailer behind in Ky and head for home in Fl. We make it and have the vehicle looked at with a Diesel Professional and Certified BOSCH injector remanufacturing store. They promptly inform us that injectors 2,5,6,8, are the wrong injectors for our truck. I notify Gm and Cunningham GMC of the issue so they can rectify it. Cunningham and Gm inform me they do not believe the injuectors are wrong and want me to pay again to remove the wrong injectors, send them to Tn so they can evaluate if they are wrong. If they find the injectors to be wrong, then and only then will they consider covering the cost of the repair. I do not feel Gm or Cunningham are willing to work with me to rectify this issue. So if you have repair work done at Cunningham GMC beware.
