After seeing a report about CYDCOR on here I wanted to share my experiences so you may learn from what I did.

I was hired by an office in Culver City and in my first 4 days on my own I was at the top of the country for the campaign we were working on. I must say that I was very excited about the opportunity to advance with the company.

On the following Monday I was asked to take a young woman who was having a hard time with the job out to see if I could get her motivated. After spending the day with her I was starting to have second thoughts about the company. She didn't want to continue working there but the owner, Marty, was being extremely "persuasive" in keeping her on board. When we got back to the office I told Marty that she wasn't going to work out, that it would be better for her to find a different job. He decided that wouldn't work and literally drilled her for at least an hour on how great CYDCOR is.

After witnessing this I decided I didn't like the job anymore but at the same time I was worried that if was to quit I would have lost the bonus money I had earned. The rest of the week I showed up and then went home and looked for a new job while I waited to get paid.

It just so happens that the Regional Conferene was that weekend in San Jose. It was supposed to be a free trip so I thought "what the hell" and went. I felt like a was at a convention for a CULT!!! It was seriously that bad.

Upon returning to L.A. I quit and requested my pay. I was told that I'd have to wait until pay day. I ended up going to Sacremento for a week and when I got back to L.A. I went to go get my paycheck. I was expecting about $1200, including commisions and bonuses. Marty tried to give me a check for $300. I told him that was ridiculous and he told me I was lucky to get that.

So, I went for the jugular.

These guys depend on websites like Monster.com and other popular job sites. I went to all of them and reported the practices I had witnessed. Two days later I got an e-mail from one of the Vice-Presidents of CYDCOR asking me how much money I wanted and where to send the check. They also took Marty's business away from him and demoted him back to the level of a new hire.

The moral of the story...?

When in doubt, hit them where it hurts.
