So everything I've heard on here is so true. Here's my story. I dated a guy in Tennessee who was an "assistant manager" and when I met him, everything was about "the business." He was even late for our first date because he was out roaming the country on a "road trip" (where, by the way, he paid for his own food, transportation, and that of his "team") at 12:00 at night. I should've know then.

But I stayed with him. His manager, whom he thought could do no wrong, just kept encouraging him. She would come over to my apartment for parties of my roommates' and would say how much she loved me because I was so supportive of her assistant manager. Trust me, that changed. He worked AT LEAST 12 hour days everyday, even Saturdays, but could barely pay his rent. What they don't tell you is that they take out a huge percentage of your pay check and put it in a "savings account for when you open your own business." Of course that meant that I always paid for everything! Well, finally they promote him, with no preparation at all, of course, because all he's done this whole time is be his manager's b**ch...doing the work she was too d**n lazy to do.

First they tell him when he's promoted to "management" that he can move somewhere close to me, since we've gotten pretty serious at this point. But then they tell him he'll be moving to Orlando and he makes all these plans to do so. So his manager gives him NO SUPPORT to find people to move with him (of course uprooting thier own lives to move to some random a*s city to basically be door-to-door salesmen), so they stick him in Georgia for a while.

Of course, while in Georgia he, as the future "manager" of his pitiful two people he dragged with him, is responsible for renting an apartment. Of course they could afford nothing more than one in the WORST GHETTO EVER and it was common to live with people he worked with, so he lived with two strangers for months. HE pays for the u-haul to move them, HE puts down money for deposits, and HE pays for the majority of the rent. At this point, he's all but getting shunned by the manager of this Georgia office. You see, he's dating the manager of the TN office and at this point, they both hate him. It's like a f***ing 5th grade playground at recess at this point. (Besides their BIG RULE that they don't date inside the office, but they all do!...hell, I don't blame them for it...the cult doesn't let you associate with people outside your office!)

So fast foward four long, miserable months for him and our relationship and we get to the part where he FINALLY grows some balls and gets a good head on his shoulders and QUITS!!!! Now all of the sudden his old manager won't rent his apartment in Georgia like she promised she would when she moved down there (because he was already supposed to be packing it up to Orlando) so HE is stuck with a lease he can't get out of and paying rent in an apartment he doesn't live in. She opts for a swanky apartment in a better part of town, because, don't forget, a manager always has to appear rich so that everyone in his/her office thinks he/she is super successful and will strive to earn what the manager is earning. MONEY IS THEIR FING LIFE!!!

The problem is that they NEVER filed his taxes and refused to work with him when tax season rolled around. To this day, I'm not even sure they every cut him a check for the money they "saved" (or cleverly stole) from him (we're talking $10,000 or more that he had to jump through hoops to get, but was legally his). And then they added in all this stuff that he owed them for (like a vacuum cleaner for the office or a loan on gas they gave him like his first month with the company), which took even more money out of his measely savings.

I mean, let's face it..when you let people who are 21-30 years old manage people with no prior experience, of course it's going to end up running like a college sorority meeting. People are talking about each other constantly and I've even heard that manager talk about how stupid and immature people in her OWN office were...it's time to take a look in the mirror!

Needless to say, all this stress ruined our relationship for good. He was so upset by the whole thing he had to go to counseling and be put on antidepressants. Last I talked to him, he was so financially drained from this "money making opportunity" that he was sleeping on an air mattress in his COMPLETELY empty apartment because he couldn't afford a bed and he was living off of Ramen Noodles and frozen pizzas. He never reconciled with any of his former "team" and they all think he's a quitter...and worse is that they made him believe that he failed. But it gets better. hHis manager told him in one of her nasty replies to him wanting his money, that she thought he had what it took until he got "negged out" BY ME!!! Are you kidding me??? A 26 year old man can make his own decisions, so quit blaming it on his FING GIRLFRIEND!!! Why don't YOU understand that it was your shady business practices, negative gossip, and immaturity that landed the poor man without any freaking money!?!

So if you're dating someone who may be working for these crazies...get a clue! Because you'll either end up having to break up with him because you never see him anymore or he'll break up with you because the cult tells him to. Good luck!
