Darlene Morgan King, Director - Child Development Technology - MGCCC Jackson County Ms. King is selling Child Development Tech. Associate Degrees to incompetent, rude, aggressive, lazy, ignorant, cheating female college students Gautier Mississippi

I am a graduate of University of Southern Mississippi and I'm also a graduate of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. I have been steaming mad about one of my college instructors from MGCCC. Even though it has been a few years since I graduated with my bachelors degree, I am still angry about the behavior of one of my former college instructors who taught be during junior college. I keep meeting former students of MGCCC who tell me that Darlene Morgan King is still behaving in an incompetent manner. I think it's about time that someone addressed the program of MGCCC offering "diploma mill" AA degrees. Here is my formal complaint:

I would like to report that Darlene Morgan King has been selling passing grades to incompetent, undeserving female college students. These women sleep, talk on their cell phones, chat with their friends, plagarize reports, cheat on tests, are consistently late for class, regularly no show for class, leave class before it's time, eat in class, and regularly disrupt the lecture when they choose to have a chat with their friends in class. Ms. King pretends she doesn't hear any of this going on. She pretends that she isn't witnessing how disrespectuful these women are being to the classmates who are trying to listen. Ms. King ignores this rude behavior even though some students have complained about how annoying all this distracting chatter can be. Ms. King feels sorry for the GED students and the Head Start teachers who need to get their associate degrees in order to continue to receive food stamps. If they are unemployed and ail to keep full-time college enrollment status, they will lose their food stamps. Ms.King knows that these women are generally unemployable since they are undisciplined and ignorant. She doesn't want them to lose their student grants and food stamps so she gives them c's and B's no matter what they do in class. Some students openly talk on their cell phones and Ms. King won't say anything to them. One student did chat on her phone in the first row and Ms. King gently asked the woman to please step outside to accept a cell phone call. Some students leave the class three or four times during the class hour to make phone calls or to smoke cigarettes. No wonder Mississippi is at the bottom of the bucket when it comes to education!

Ms. King is very sympathetic to the Head Start teachers who need to get their associate degrees by 2010. If they fail to obtain an AA degree, they will no be allowed to work as Lead Teachers at Head Start beginning in 2010. Ms. King basically sells the classes to these women so that they will be able to get their AA degrees. These women have large families, work full time at Head Start, and they attend college at night. As long as they show up for class about half the time, they will receive a B or a C. Some women receive A's if Ms. King is friends with them.

Ms. King is extremely sentimental about the young welfare mothers who have several kids. She feels really sorry for them. Ms. King allows them to register their kids in her college sponsored child care facility that is located on campus. These young women get to attend college, receive food stamps, receive grant money, and their kids get to attend a very high quality child care facility on campus. The child care facility is funded by the college and is heavily staffed with highly paid child care workers. The students can do their "Student Teaching" there where they receive 3 credit hours from the school. Their is very little teaching being done by these students since the paid teachers do most of the work. The child development technology teachers get to sit around and visit and draw with crayons while the paid teachers do their work. Usually there are three-six toddlers in a room being supervised by one paid teacher and four-six college students. Like I said; there isn't a whole lot of "student teaching" going on.l

It is a tragedy that Mississippi still allows these incompetent instructors to carry on earning large salaries by selling college degrees to women who have no intention of seeking employment. These women just want to stay home with their children and stay on welfare. These women are unemployable since they never learned to behave in a respectful manner and they are completely undisciplined.

Ms. King has been running her Child Development Technology Program like this for the last twenty years. She honestly believes that she's helping these women. She's an enabler and the only people who lose are her Child Development Technology students. They are wasting their federal grant money and WIN job center supplimental grant money on a worthless degree.
