The owner of Daulton Point Construction, Michael David Moore, contracted with our family to build our dream pool and perform some interior remodeling work in early 2017. After meeting with him for weeks during the planning phase, we gained trust for him. We naively paid for the majority of our project upfront, based on his request of needing funds to purchase materials ahead of completion.
Everything started out great, until the first laborer he hired showed up at our doorstep stating he was issued a hot check for work we had already paid for. Things went downhill from there. Sub-contractors complained constantly of the following, which we suffered living in the midst of: cheap unusable materials provided (or no materials provided at all); not getting paid for work; little to no direction on jobs (especially when they were owed money for labor), and sometimes days without communication from him as full time employees. Contractors would often times sit outside of our home for hours on end waiting for Moore to appear with materials and direction, and would often give up and leave. This went on for weeks and months, and turned into the most maddening experience we’ve ever been placed in.
We were unfortunately at Moore’s mercy as we had already paid him for the work that was taking months longer than what we were told it would be. Still having a giant hole in the ground weeks after the contract had been breached (with no end in sight), we asked Moore for a refund of what we had paid versus completed work. He explained he no longer had our funds, and was in a bind. We graciously allowed him to determine how much HE thought he owed back to us, and permitted a payment plan (for an amount thousands less than what he actually owed us; but we were willing to do so, to avoid outrageous attorney fees).
The payment plan turned into a complete repeat of the maddening relationship we were in while working with him. To this day we have only been paid $200 back towards TENS OF THOUSANDS we are owed.
Our dream has become a nightmare. If you are planning to work with Daulton Point or Mike Moore, please do your homework and check out references (also be weary of what may be written as “false” references!).
This is only a small part of the gravity Moore has negatively placed on our family and future. Our family would hate to see another family treated in the way that we have been by Mr. Moore and Daulton Point Construction.
