I received a phone call to my home phone today from someone claiming to be David Sayer of Publishers Clearing House. He informed me that they had made two prior attempts to contact me and that I was one of the winners of the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes. I told him that I found it interesting since no one in my household had entered the PCH sweepstakes.

He insisted that I had won three million dollars any a car. I asked him if this involved paying fees to claim a prize and he asked me to explain what I meant by fees, never directly answered my question. Then he asked me to write down a prize claim number. At this point I asked him to tell me my name and address since at no point in the conversation had he addressed me by name of mentioned my location.

He told me that he had to get  this information from the main office that he didn't have this info readily available in front of him. He asked me to hold for while he retrieved this info. After about a minute he came back on complaining about the internet being slow and that he hadn't yet been able to retrieve my info. I told him at this point that I thought it very suspicious that he had contacted me claiming that I had won a large sweepstakes prize yet he didn't even know my name or location, I told him that I believed he was a scammer since PCH does not contact sweepstakes winners in this manner. At this point I ended the conversation.

Also it sounded to me as though this guy was talking through some kind of electronic device used for masking his real voice His voice sounded really odd. When he called, no number showed on my caller ID he was listed as Private Caller suggesting that he had masked his real phone number.
