I paid $1999 for the Dawn Til Dusk class in Houston, TX back in December 2006 through Google checkout with my American Express card. I called the DTD 877 # several times and spoke with the owner Russ Park. He is the only human that ever answers the phone and a lot of times it goes to his voicemail. I planned my trip way in advance back in August 2006 and paid in full so that I would not have anything to worry about. I even booked my hotel where the class was being held. The Holiday Inn Astrodome in Houston, TX on Kirby Dr had no idea that the class was being held there when I called them about 1 month before the class started. I freaked out. Why would they not know about an event that was 30 days away?
Well, this is when it all fell apart. Things got worst. I called Russ Park and told me that the Dec 2006 Houston class was cancelled due to illness of the instructor. States that she had mono and was not able to teach the class. I asked him when was he to notify me that the class was cancelled? He said he had just found out about it over the weekend. What a liar! He told me he had to update the website and he would call me back b/c he was not sure when the class would be rescheduled.
Never called me back, never updated website, and never answered my calls after that...I called American Express and filed a dispute form with them. They tried contacting him. No response. It took me from Nov 2006 until May 2007 to get my card refunded. I am the lucky one in this case but there are more out there that is getting scammed by this man! Someone please do something!
Went to BBB and found complaints and this guy is ripping people off!!! HELP! Please beware! This man is taking people's money!

You say- RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH....well I did research for 6 months prior to signing up for the class. I checked every website possible including the BBB and I also knew I was backed my American Express anyways...for you to imply that the class was convenient, cheap, and close by is totally incorrect. I don't think $2000 is all that cheap and Houston, TX was a 5 hour drive not to mention I had to book the hotel and find sitters...I don't exactly call that cheap or convenient. Yeah, I could have booked a flight there as well...this was the closest class to Louisiana. I agree that you do get what you pay for but if you go to the website it makes it all look wonderful and great...and believe me talking to Russ Park was very easy at first until he got my money!
We are all victims of this guy's game. It has nothing to do with research. We all did our own research. I know I did. I did not become skeptical until 1 month before class when I contacted the hotel and they had not booked the meeting rooms.
So, it was all about the wool being pulled over my eyes...I felt confident with my decision and it backfired. Lesson learned I guess...but do remember that I went through a lot of drama to get my money back and there are many others that never got theirs back!!!!

When choosing a makeup school, always do your homework and RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH.
Talk with other people who have taken classes at the school.
Ask questions about the school.
If you can, travel to where the school is located and take a tour and look at how the classes are taught.
Take a look at the Better Business Bureau as well, and take a look and see if there's any complaints about the school and see if they've done anything about them.
Don't just give some company money just because it's convenient, close by, and CHEAP! Definitely a no no!
