I have worked for Days Inn now for four months, I was told I would get a raise after three months and did not recieve it. Also had worked overtime and they had not paid me properly as well as cash and not on my check. They have me work when others call in sick or take leave and have me work my scheduel as well as the person who took leave scheduel. I have been working 16 hour shifts repeatedly and only getting a chance to get some food if the manager wants to give me a minute.
We recently had a assistant manager opening and instead of promoting the most qualified they promote and Indian male to take the position after only being at this facility for a week. He was still not proberly trained by the manager. As well as another employee has came in late everyday since I started working here and has not had a write up and has been virbaly warned about 10 to 12 times. I am the only one that gets into trouble for not wearing our Days Inn shirt but someone else had not worn her shirt yet and has not had one thing said to her.
Not only these problems exist but as well as being treated differently and finding out that one of the girls here had personal relationship with the manager and gets treated so differently than the rest of the crew.

What are prerequisites for employment/ advancement at Days Inn?

If one of them is the ability to communicate, this letter is not a shining example. I don't mean the typos we all make, as these are very common. I mean being able to make yourself understood. However, I do feel employees should be paid for any OT the work.

There are many solutions here

First, keep a small notebook on you and record date and time of each occurance of unequal treatment or labor violation.
Check with the wage and hour division of your Sate Dept. of Labor, or whatever it is called in you state to see what the requirements are for payment of overtime, breaks, etc.
Also consult a local union to see if one represents hotel workers, and go see an organizer and request representation. This will get the attention of Days Inn REAL QUICK!
It sounds like you really need union representation and I know that the Teamsters are big in your area.
